Research On Flat Design Of Solid Wood Furniture For Young Renters

With the development of China’s modern social economy,the housing cost is escalating because of the increase of floating population and continuous growth of urban population.More and more people choose to rent a house as one of the ways to solve the housing problem in their transitional period.Among them,young people are the main group.However,the form of furniture in traditional rental housing has been unable to adapt to the development of the times and meet young people’s growing psychological needs.Therefore,a furniture product form accommodating to the using demand of current renters is expected to be raised.On the other hand,with the environmental awareness of consumption rises,people’s demand for furniture has gradually switched focus from nice appearance to environmentally friendly material and its comfort.Whether in terms of practicability,quality or cultural,solid wood furniture can meet the material and spiritual needs of contemporary consumers for comfort and environmental protection.This article aims to apply solid wood furniture to furniture products design for young renters on the basis of flat design.This paper first analyzes young renters’characteristics in physiology,psychology,lifestyle and consumption behavior through investigation,and then summarizes furniture design principles like functionality,affordability,good quality as well as applicability for renters.These can provide theoretical guidance and support for subsequent design practice.As a modern furniture design method,flat design is one of the furniture product design methods that can be applied to furniture products suitable for young renters.Through the analysis of the flat design of solid wood furniture,the research on the flat design of solid wood furniture for young renters is launched.From the implementation pattern of the flat design of solid wood furniture,some ways such as reducing physical weight,improving structural mode,and using visual effects can be used to realize the flattening of solid wood furniture.This can be used as a guide to design furniture for young renters.The manifestation pattern of the flat design of solid wood furniture shows that solid wood furniture can be combined with metals,plastics,leather and other materials,and each has its own advantages.Then,the flat design of solid wood furniture for the young renters is analyzed from the aspects of design principles,design features,design methods,design elements and so on.Design principles of people-orientation,reduction,sustainability and flexibility are obtained;Design features of portability,function conversion,space saving and user participation are concluded;Design methods of disassembly and assembly,folding,modular and multiple purposes are acquired;Design elements in modeling style,material,color and emotion are discussed.That can provide theoretical support to follow-up design practice.Finally,through design orientation in target population,product market and design elements,a practical solution for renters is proposed.The paper verifies the feasibility of the flat design idea for guiding furniture design practice in rental house.Solid wood furniture can also be used by renters through the flat design so as to improve their lifestyle and achieve a higher quality of life.In conclusion,the flat design of solid wood furniture is in line with young renters’ demand and the future development trend of the rental furniture market.
