Horizontal wells are efficient well types for exploiting underground crude oil.But due to uneven pressure difference between toe and heel end of the horizontal well section,water seeing time of wellbore will be shortened,which seriously damages the economic benefits of the oilfield.Based on fully researching the commonly used horizontal well water control methods in China and outside China,an adaptive horizontal well water control tool based on oil-water density difference and swirl is proposed in this paper.The overall structure of this water control tool model is designed using three-dimensional visualization software AutoCAD.A finite element software ANSYS-Fluent was used to simulate flow pattern and distribution of the two fluids inside this well water control tool,and tool's water control principle deeply studied and analyzed through variable control method to understand the tool's working performance,comprehensive feasibility analysis and some available limiting factors of this adaptive water control tool model,and then to optimize the parameters of the structural design scheme of this tool.Simulation results show that pressure difference inside tool increases with an increase in inlet velocity and simulated pressure difference close to an experimental tightness pressure value.Simulation data indicates that this tool has better water control performance and the water control effect is achieved in between the tool's inlet and outlet.This tool's pure mechanical structure as well as it is a short section is very economical and safe.It can be installed in segments along a horizontal well production pipe.This horizontal well water control tool proposed by this paper adjusts the inflow of formation fluid into the production pipe based on the concept of density difference and swirl effect,which is of great significance for improving horizontal well water control and researches in intelligent well completion theory.
