Since British physical chemist Harold Kroto and American scientist Richard Smalley synthesized buckminsterfullerene in Rice University in 1985,because of its unique physical and chemical properties,carbon nanomaterials have been widely investigated and developed rapidly.From zero-dimensional fullerenes,one-dimensional carbon nanotubes to two-dimensional graphene,allotropes of carbon are continuously enriched.Different physical and chemical properties of carbon nanomaterials depend on its carbon nanostructures,which is relevant with their application fields.In order to obtain carbon nanostructured materials with different morphologies,the morphology control of carbon nanostructured materials represents one of the most explored directions.In this paper,at the atmospheric pressure by using chemical vapor deposition(CVD),with hydrogen gas only as the reaction carrier gas,benzene as the carbon precursor,thiophene as the growth promoter,and silicon wafer coated Ni catalyst film made by magnetron sputtering as the substrate,then a novel carbon morphology named carbon nanopear was prepared under hydrogen atmosphere for the first time.Carbon nanopears have unique nanostructures with nano-size tips,nano-size roots and solid interior,which can be extensively used in energy storage field,catalyst carrier,composite materials,carbon-based conductive materials and other relevant fields.The growth factors and formation mechanism of carbon nanopears were studied by scanning electron microscope,Raman spectrometer,and transmission electron microscope,Firstly,to study the effect that benzene flow rate,reaction time,thiophene and the catalysts have on the yield and scale of carbon nanopears synthesized by CVD,to explore the growth pattern of carbon nanopears,to determine the crucial factors affecting the growth of carbon nanopears,and to improve the purity of carbon nanopears.Secondly,aimed at improving the purity of carbon nanopears,the growth experiment combined with the theoretical model was to investigate the mechanisms of the relevant experimental factors in the CVD growth condition.
