Study On Costume Pattern Of Va Nationality In Cangyuan Of Yunnan Province

As a kind of culture that can distinguish and judge a nation’s image,costume culture reflects the information of a nation’s history and culture,living environment,aesthetic preference,religious belief,customs and so on.It plays the role of cultural heritage,record and development.Va nationality is one of the indigenous nationalities with a long history in the southwest of China.It mainly lives in Cangyuan,Ximeng,Lancang,Menglian,Gengma and other areas in the southwest of Yunnan Province.Different branches of the Va Nationality in Cangyuan area have different patterns of clothing,and the meaning of the same pattern in different parts of clothing is also different.Based on the folk culture of the Va Nationality in Cangyuan,Yunnan Province.The costume patterns of the Va Nationality in Cangyuan is studies as an example in this thesis.First,the historical culture and clothing characteristics of the Va nationality in Cangyuan,Yunnan were studied.From the historical development and geographical environment of the Va nationality in Cangyuan,it can be analyzed that the clothing of the Va nationality has the characteristics of simple and elegant,tropical style,and appreciation of black and red.Judging from the themes and contents of the clothing patterns of the Va nationality in Cangyuan,Yunnan,the shape of the clothing patterns of the Va nationality can be divided into figurative patterns and abstract patterns.The source of the content of the theme has two aspects:one is the mythology and legend and the original religious belief of the Va nationality.Another is the natural environment in which the Va nationality live.Secondly,according to the modeling characteristics of the clothing patterns of the Va nationality,it can be analyzed that the clothing patterns of the Va nationality have decorative,abstract,and distinctive features,as well as various art forms such as simple uniformity,balanced symmetry,rhythm,and diverse unity.The decorative features mainly use a lot of freehand techniques to express the beauty of its external form.The abstract feature is to exaggerate and simplify the shape of the concrete object in reality,and express its artistic characteristics in the external form of horizontal lines and vertical lines.Factors such as living environment,primitive religion and pattern making technology will affect the formation of abstract characteristics.The distinctive feature is that the clothing patterns of the Va nationality are unique and can be distinguished from those of other nationalitis.Finally,from the perspective of folk culture,the color connotation of the Va nationality’s costume patterns in Cangyuan,Yunnan is explained.The formation of the Va nationality’s costume patterns is closely related to their own national nature worship,totem worship,and reproductive worship.The clothing patterns of the Va nationality not only contain the profound original religious concepts of the people,but also have the cultural function of recording the history,culture,religious belief and material life of the people.At the same time,they also reflect the spiritual and folk culture of the Va nationality.At present,there are two problems in the development of the clothing patterns of the Va nationality:First,traditional clothing is gradually being replaced by dresses.The other is the decline of traditional technology.In order to better protect and inherit the clothing culture of the Va nationality in Cangyuan,Yunnan,several suggestions are made from the perspective of individuals and society,hoping to attract more attention and promote the traditional culture of the Va nationality.
