As the most widely used equipment for the exploration and exploitation of marine oil and gas resources in China,jack-up drilling platforms have the advantages of strong maneuverability,convenient positioning,and good operational stability.They are the main forces in the exploration and development of continental shelves.The jack-up drilling rig includes a hull,a lifting system and a support system,and a rig floor is arranged on the main deck of the hull.Piling is the most critical part of the self-elevating platform in place,and it is also the highest risk.The depth of piles into the mud is the key determinant of the platform's carrying capacity.Platform ballast is the actual operation process to achieve the smooth entry of pile shoes into the mud.The ballasting process is accompanied by problems such as platform overturning,slippage,puncture,and pile-pulling.Therefore,the foundation bearing capacity of the soil around pile shoes and pile shoes and the flow control of ballast are always the key issues in drilling engineering research.This paper sorts out the research results of the jacking capacity,pile insertion depth,and ballast principle of jack-up drilling platforms both at home and abroad,summarizes the ballasting method and flow of the jack-up platform,and applies the entire ballasting process.The outstanding problems are discussed and a set of ballast safety control methods is proposed for the main problems in the ballasting process.
