Due to rapid development and tremendous progress in science and technology,human engineering gradually becomes an important part in different industries varies from equipment improvement to layout optimization,from better user experience to smarter product design.There are human engineering risks in N95 mask production in M company which might cause health issues for employees.So the research is to reduce or eliminate the human engineering risks in N95 production via risk identification,evaluation and control.The improvement will not only bring benefit for employees health but also for productivity enhancement.The first part introduces N95 mask,its process and human engineering current status.Quite a few cases are reported regarding complaint for heavy work loading,muscle pain in arm,shoulder and waist through 3 years in M company.The second part indicates there is no research for human engineering application in N95 mask production base on civil and foreign essay study.Then human engineering simulation software such as JACK,SAMMIE,eM-Engineer as well as human engineering evaluation methods such as RULA,NIOSH lifting equation and OWAS are introduced.HRS and EJA which are human engineering risk assessment methods in M company are introduced.There are 3 high human engineering risk operations in N95 mask production including jumbo stripping,jumbo transportation and non-woven uploading.Based on ECRS,several improvements are applied respectively including jumbo stripping equipment modification,installing pneumatic transportation system and installing non-woven uploading platform.Positive feedback are got from employees and human engineering risks are reduced or eliminated totally.Human engineering risks are identified in trouble observation for performer machine via OWAS analysis.The risks are eliminated through engineering control including installing PC cover and optoelectronic sensor.Meanwhile,OEE is raised from 76% to 85% due to the modification.The research is a trial for conducting human engineering evaluation without simulation software.And it's also an exploring to apply human engineering evaluation in more industrials which could benefit further researches.
