With the progress and development of the economy, people’s living standards have gradually increased, and automobile production also increased year by year. The increasingly serious energy pressure and environmental pollution problems have become an important factor that restricts the development of diesel engines. The development of new types of clean alternative fuels provides solutions to current problems. Therefore,it is imminent to look for alternative fuels to alleviate the above mentioned problems. What is even more striking is that due to ecological and environmental issues, the internal combustion engine is in urgent need of alternative fuels,in order to achieve ideal combustion and emission performance. With the continuous development of coal-to-oil technology, the development of clean coal is accelerated. As an alternative fuel for the development of future internal combustion engines,it not only effectively mitigates energy issues, and the resulting ecological environmental problems,it has positive and long-term implications, and the development of coal-to-oil technology is also important research and application direction in future development.FT diesel,an indirect liquefaction product of coal,is produced by Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.Because of its close performance to diesel fuel, its high cetane number, low sulfur content and low alkane content, and its direct application to diesel engines,it is considered to be an excellent diesel alternative fuel. However, the high calorific value of FT diesel fuel results in a higher temperature in the cylinder during combustion and a higher NOx emission.Alcohol fuel is a widely used oxygenated fuel, which has the characteristics of low evaporation temperature and large latent heat of vaporization and can reduced In-cylinder temperature for reducing NOx emissions. Therefore,in this paper,10% butanol fuel(by volume)was blended in FT diesel to achieve the simultaneous reduction of NOx and soot emissions. In this paper, after configuring the mixed fuel, the physicochemical characteristics of 0# diesel,FT diesel and butanol fuels were obtained through theoretical calculations and tests: cetane number,H/C mass ratio, fuel calorific value, vaporization latent heat value,Dynamic viscosity, oxygen content, and sulfur content are known from the characteristics of the parameters: the cetane number of the mixed fuel formed by FT diesel and butanol is slightly higher than that of 0# diesel, and the calorific value is basically the same as that of 0# diesel, both the density and the viscosity.Below 0# diesel, the oxygen content is higher than 0# diesel.Through the engine bench test, the power, economy, combustion and emission performance of 0# diesel,FT diesel,0# diesel and butanol, and FT diesel and butanol blended fuel were compared.Through comparative analysis,it can be seen that the FT and butanol mixed fuels have the lowest peak cylinder pressure and the lowest peak cylinder temperature. The instantaneous heat release values of the four fuels are basically equivalent. The mixed fuel of FT and butanol can significantly improve soot and NOx emissions.CO emissions are slightly higher than FT diesel, and HC emissions increase slightly. In terms of power,0# diesel is the highest, followed by FT diesel,0# diesel and butanol mixed fuel,FT diesel and butanol mixed fuel. The fuel consumption rate from high to low is: 0# diesel and butanol mixed fuel,0# diesel,FT diesel and butanol mixed fuel, and FT diesel.Comprehensive test results can be obtained,FT diesel fuel and butanol mixed fuel can simultaneously reduce diesel engine NOx and soot emissions, power and economic performance is slightly poor, can be appropriately reduced to increase the ratio to achieve better results.
