EVA hot-melt adhesive has been widely used in many fields such as book binding,wood processing,sealant and so on,because it has good processing flowability,no poison,low cost and great convenience.However,EVA hot-melt adhesive has some disadvantages,such as low adhesive strength,low mechanical properties and poor temperature resistance,which has greatly limited its application.Therefore,the modification of EVA hot-melt adhesive has become one of research hot spots in recent years.In this paper,a modified EVA hot-melt adhesive was prepared by blending SBS elastomer and EVA hot-melt adhesive.By investigating the relationship between the quantity of additives and properties of hot-melt adhesive,the best addition of each component of the modified EVA hot-melt adhesive was determined.The main research conclusions are as following.?1?A modified EVA hot-melt adhesive was prepared by blending EVA resin,SBS elastomer,hydrogenated C5 petroleum resin,nanometer calcium carbonate,paraffin and antioxidant 1010 in an internal mixer.The dispersion state of blends was characterized by SEM.Tests show that continuous phase and dispersive phase are closely bonded and modified EVA hot-melt adhesive has good compatibility.TGA tests show that thermal decomposition rate of modified EVA hot-melt adhesive is lowered and thermal ability is enhanced.?2?The relationship between the content of SBS and the properties of EVA hot-melt adhesive was studied.Results show that with increasing the content of SBS,the softening point and the tensile strength of EVA hot-melt adhesive both continue to increase,but the peeling strength firstly increases and then decreases.With increasing the content of SBS,the shore hardness gradually decreases.The optimal content of SBS is 20%.?3?The relationship between the quantity of additives and the properties of SBS/EVA hot-melt adhesive was studied.Results are as follows:With increasing the content of hydrogenated C5 petroleum resin,the softening point continues to decrease.When the content reaches 25%,peeling strength is maximum.With increasing the content of paraffin,the softening point continues to decrease.When the content reaches 5%,peeling strength is maximum.With increasing the content of nanometer calcium carbonate,the softening point continues to increase.When the content reaches 9%,peeling strength is maximum.High temperature oxidation tests show that antioxidant 1010 or antioxidant 264 can effectively inhibit the high temperature oxidation of hot-melt adhesive.The optimal content of other additives of SBS/EVA hot-melt adhesive was determined with the amount of hydrogenated C5 petroleum resin 25%,paraffin 5%,nanometer calcium carbonate 9%,antioxidant 1010 1%.By using blending modification technology,an economical and effective modification method for EVA hot-melt adhesive has been explored.The adhesive properties and mechanical properties of the EVA hot-melt adhesive have been greatly improved after modification.It is of great significance to the modification of EVA hot-melt adhesive and expansion of its application range.
