Recent years,with the rapid development of high-performance computers,numerical simulation techniques for casting process have been widely used in industrial production.Currently,most softwares for casting simulation are based on grid method with distortion effects.Moreover,this method cannot accurately deal with the free surface and moving boundary,which means its limited application at centrifugal casting.Therefore,only few casting softwares are available for centrifugal casting simulation.In view of the insufficient research of centrifugal casting process,SPH method is used to simulate the filling process of centrifugal casting in this paper.As a meshfree method,however,SPH has more geometric flexibility for complex shapes,and more advantages on dealing moving boundary,free surface flow.Therefore,SPH method shows great application potential in casting simulation.The following researches were carried out on the centrifugal casting filling process by SPH method.First of all,the numerical simulation of casting filling process was established for three-dimension by studying the basic theory of SPH method,and corresponding C++ calculation was programed.Considering the tangential effect of boundary and fluid in casting process,a non-slip boundary based on dummy particles was introduced in this paper to address the boundary problem in three-dimensional space.And this work used OpenMP technology to realize parallel computing of three-dimensional program in order to solve the low computational efficiency.Then,it was verified that the theoretical model and program based on SPH in this paper are correct by comparing the simulation results of the typical hydraulic model and the actual casting process with the experimental results and the ProCast results.This work set the foundation for the numerical simulation of the centrifugal casting filling process.Secondly,based on previous work,the force in centrifugal casting field was analyzed to establish the corresponding SPH mathematical model.The analytical solutions of liquid free surface,velocity distribution and pressure distribution in centrifugal casting field were derived to compare with the hydraulic simulation results and experimental results.Accordingly,the mathematical model is verified to be correct.Finally,the actual centrifugal castings were simulated by using the SPH mathematical model established in this paper.The results were then compared with the experiment and ProCast results,which proved that the mathematical model and the program developed in this paper have practicability.It provides a new idea for the numerical simulation of thecentrifugal casting and has certain engineering reference value.
