As one of the important basic chemical raw materials,sodium hydroxide is always in large demand.The most popular transport ways are road transport & railway tank car,and chemical tanker.For longer distance transport,it requires the transship of these ways as mentioned,but with time-consuming and laborious,high waste of the goods transported,it specialy need careful concern the possibility of leakage during these process.Tank container is very helpful for the door-to-door transportation of the chemical materials with economical and easy,environmental and safe,which makes it popularly for sodium hydroxide transport.But after a while it found that the inner tank was corroded gradually,so there exists need for a custom-made tank container for sodium hydroxide.This paper presents analysis and assessment on current issues with practical effective design plan based upon the actual conditions.And the main research works are as following:(1)The design solutions based on the analysis and research on requirement of antiseptic property for the materials are presented.The decay resistance under different working temperature is also analysed;(2)The heat-transfer of heating system with CFD technology is analysed through proper structure design to make sure the tank shell under the highest temperature and the material can takes in Sodium hydroxide;(3)Based on the design standards and specifications for tank container,with conventional computation,the minimum thickness of tank shell is determined with proper outer pressure and water pressure and rated discharge quantity of safety valve;(4)With FEA technology,the tank container under 7 different experiment conditions are considered with stress analysis on IMDG transportation,and then the stability of the whole structure of tank container is determined.(5)The final sample passed tests such as static testing and the dynamic longitudinal impact test with certificated and approved by Classification Society.Then it was put into mass production and delivered to end users.The first dangerous goods transport tank container is also qualified to go on China's railway system.The design solutions and ideas of this paper are valuable of reference and inspiration for the transportation of corrosive chemical materials specially with the advanced calculation for the further design of tank container.
