The Research On The Form Of Patchwork In Clothes

Patchwork is a kind of sewing technique of different cloths according to the intention of the designers, whether the cloth is regular or not. Also the patchwork is an artistic form and a popular way of decoration. Not only did the patchwork used by the ancient people in history, but also it was applied in today's clothes making of country people as well as the worldwide fashion show. My paper was beginning with the phenomenon of patchwork using in clothes design, then analyzing the origin of the traditional patchwork in clothes making and searching on the design trend of patchwork in fashion world. According to the differences among patchwork of different times and areas, the paper analyzed the reasons of the differences as well as the changing rules of patchworks. At last the paper obtained a new viewpoint and opinion in using patchwork in fashion design and gave inspiration in practice.There are five chapters in my paper. The chapterâ… also the preface gives a brief introduction of the subject, content and structure of the paper as well as the research results of patchwork. From chapterâ…¡to chapterâ…£, it is the main body of the paper. At first the paper traces back to the origin of the patchwork and the connotation of the usage of traditional patchwork, and then analyzes the using of patchwork in today's fashion design from the aspects of color, material, decoration technique, pattern design and so on. The following content is analyzing the reason of using the patchwork in today's fashion design from the view of social factors and psychological factors. The last chapter is a summary of the whole paper, which discusses the significance of patchwork used in fashion design and gives advice for the usage of patchwork by the analytical study of the above chapters. At the same time, the last chapter gives a statement of the research result of the patchwork form in clothes.
