| After joining the World Trade Organization,China’s global status has been continuously improved, which encouraged more and more enterprises to take "going out" strategies to make Outward Foreign Direct Investment(OFDI)to seek a bigger market.Especially after 2010,the growth rate of OFDI is very fast, and the results have attracted worldwide attention. At the same time, however, due to the extensive economic growth in the previous period, domestic environmental problems have become increasingly serious, and the scale of carbon dioxide emissions has continued to rise.In 2017,China’s total carbon emissions reached 8.9 billion tons, accounting for 28% of the world’s carbon emissions. As a responsible big country,China has taken the initiative to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and mitigate climate change. Therefore,in the face of the two major tasks of ―economic development‖ and ―energy saving and emission reduction‖,studying the impact of OFDI on China’s carbon dioxide emissions is of great practical and guiding significance for China’s ability to achieve economic transformation and fulfill its emission reduction commitments. Therefore, based on the energy consuming panel data of 30 provinces and regions in China from 2004 to 2016,the carbon dioxide emission level was calculated. At the same time, the per capita GDP,technical level, industrial structure and other indexes were selected as the control variables. The writer also established the fixed effect model, and the carbon emission effects of China’s OFDI were analyzed empirically by region and time. The empirical results show that the increase in the scale of OFDI will promote the increase of China’s carbon dioxide emissions, but there are significant differences in the carbon emission effects of various regions. The carbon emission effects of OFDI in the eastern and western regions are significantly higher than those in the central region. As time goes on,the expansion of OFDI will reduce the increase in carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, the increase in per capita GDP and industrial structure will increase carbon dioxide emissions, while the increase in technology will significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Finally, based on the results of empirical analysis and status of OFDI and domestic carbon dioxide emissions, reasonable policy advice has been given. |
