Superabsorbent polymer is a functional polymer which is lightly cross-linked and capable of absorbing liquids of tens to thousands of times its own weight. It has been widely used nowadays. In this paper, carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)is used as raw material, potassium persulfate is used as initiator,N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide is used as crosslinking agent, and acrylic acid is used as polymerization monomer. The antibacterial superabsorbent resin containing silver nanoparticles(CMC-g-PAA/Ag),the antibacterial superabsorbent polymer containing cork extract(CMC-g-PAA/CE)and the antibacterial superabsorbent resin which silver nanoparticles and cork extract combined as antibacterial reagent(CMC-g-PAA/CE-Ag)were prepared by aqueous solution polymerization. The synthesized superabsorbent resin was characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffractometry(XRD)and thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA).The specific research contents are as follows:(1)The single-factor experiment confirmed that the synthesis conditions of carboxymethyl cellulose-based superabsorbent resin were as follows:the amount of initiator was 0.140 g,the amount of cross-linking agent was 0.022 g,the initiation time was 15 min,the degree of neutralization was 60%and the reaction temperature was 60?.Under this condition, the swelling ratio is 718 g/g in distilled water and 72 g/g in 0.9%NaCl solution. The results of FTIR analysis and XRD analysis showed that graft copolymerization occurred between carboxymethyl cellulose and acrylic monomer. The SEM results showed that the synthesized superabsorbent resin had a developed dense three-dimensional network structure.(2)The optimal synthesis conditions of the three antibacterial superabsorbent resins were determined by single factor experiment based on the best swelling ratio. The optimum synthesis conditions of CMC-g-PAA/Ag were as follows:the initiator dosage was 0.140 g,the cross-linking agent dosage was 0.020 g.The optimum synthesis condition of CMC-g-PAA/CE was 0.160 g of initiator,0.018 g of cross-linking agent and the content of extract of cork was 3%.Under the condition that the extract content of cork was 3%,the optimum synthesis condition of CMC-g-PAA/CE-Ag was 0.018 g of cross-linking agent and 0.140 g of initiator.(3)A series of characterizations of three antibacterial superabsorbent resins were carried out.FTIR and XRD analysis showed that the antibacterial superabsorbent resin and antibacterial agent were successfully prepared.TGA analysis showed that these superabsorbent resins have good thermal stability and the safe use temperature is up to 250?.SEM images showed that the prepared antibacterial superabsorbent polymers have dense and continuous network structures, providing space for absorbing and retaining water. The antibacterial activity tests showed that the three antibacterial superabsorbent polymers prepared had excellent antibacterial activities on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.(4)By testing the performance of CMC-g-PAA,CMC-g-PAA/Ag,CMC-g-PAA/CE and CMC-g-PAA/CE-Ag,it is found that the water absorption rates of these four superabsorbent polymers were all fast and they can absorb more than 200 times water of their own weight within 2 min.In addition, these four resins had excellent water retention properties and the best one can completely lose the absorbed moisture in about 8 hours. They have a certain absorption capacity for artificial blood and artificial urine.
