| To meet the requirement of clean and efficient utilization of coal,Advanced Coal Chemical Industry has been developed and improved, such as coal to liquids, coal to methanol and coal-based synthetic natural gas. However, the great volume of pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions from production process, caused series of environmental problems, like global warming, acidification and eutrophication.Carbon capture and storage(CCS)is an efficient way to eliminate carbon emissions and mitigate climate change. In the present paper, life cycle analysis of several typical coal liquefaction technical routes for vehicle power and system analysis with CCS is performed with full consideration of environmental pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions, costs and energy efficiency.Direct and indirect coal liquefaction are analyzed from five sub-processes,including coal mining, transportation, production, distribution and final utilization.Life cycle energy efficiency, pollutants emissions and carbon emissions of two technical routes are discussed in this paper. The results show that direct coal liquefaction is more economic with lower costs and higher energy efficiency. Also, the carbon emissions of direct coal liquefaction are less than that of indirect technical route, which means the former is more environment-friendly route.Several direct coal liquefaction routes(e.g.different transportation methods and liquefaction factory locations)are also discussed in this paper.Furthermore, sensitivity analysis of three direct coal liquefaction routes is performed focusing on transportation distance and vehicle internal combustion engine efficiency. The results suggest that transportation by railway is an economic way and the liquefaction factory should be located at the coal mining area to minimize the costs of products. The system analysis after introducing CCS is conducted in this paper, including energy consumption, pollutants emissions, carbon emissions and life cycle costs. The results show that the system energy consumption increased after developing CCS and the carbon reductions from this technology is weakened because of the indirect carbon emissions from CCS energy consumption.Meanwhile, the life costs of CCS is a little higher, which suggests that we need to do more work to reduce the costs. |
