As a basic industry supporting social and economic development, the power industry consumes a large amount of fossil energy, accompanied by a large amount of carbon dioxide. As the main force of China's carbon emission reduction, the power industry should take the initiative to undertake major emission reduction responsibilities.China is a country with extremely uneven development. There are huge differences in economic development, technology level and resource endowment between different regions. The ways of emission reduction should be different. This paper explores the differences in the factors affecting the carbon emissions of power industries in different provinces, and provides references for the relevant departments to more specifically formulate carbon emission reduction plans for the power industry in different regions,so as to better achieve the reduction of the “13th Five-Year Plan”,and to achieve the goal of sustainable economic, social and environmental development.First of all,the article introduces the researches on the factors affecting carbon emissions, the research on carbon emissions in the power industry and the research methods used.Secondly,it analyzes the necessity of research on China's power industry carbon emissions. The article analyzes the current situation of China's power production and consumption, and compares China with several developed countries and finds a significant gap with developed countries. Therefore,in order to narrow the gap with developed countries and achieve the goal of sustainable development,it is necessary to study the carbon emissions of China's power industry. The third part of the article analyzes the factors affecting the carbon emissions of China's power industry. The extended STIRPAT model is used to decompose the carbon emission influencing factors of China's power industry into six aspects: energy efficiency, urbanization level, power generation structure, population, per capita GDP,and industrial structure. The fourth part of the paper conducts a quantile regression analysis of the carbon emissions of China's power industry. It is found that the influences of factors at each quantile are different, and the influences of the same factor at different quantiles are also unequal.Among them, population, per capita GDP,urbanization level, industrial structure and power generation structure have positive effects on carbon emissions, and the impact of energy efficiency on carbon emissions is negative. The fifth part of the article is mainly about differential analysis of the various factors affecting the carbon emissions of the power industry. This article mainly analyzes the differences in economic growth from the differences in investment between fixed assets and export trade;analyzes the differences in energy efficiency from differences in R&D investment and education input;analyzes the differences in urbanization levels from differences in real estate development, electricity transportation and urban life;analyzes differences in industrial structure from differences in industrial scale. The regression coefficient of power generation structure for carbon emissions in the power industry is the strongest among all the factors, but the inter-provincial differences are not particularly obvious compared to other factors. The sixth part of the article is to make recommendations for the low carbon development of China's power industry based on various influencing factors. The final part is a summary of the results and conclusions of this research.
