As a special fruit in Inner Mongolia and Northeast China,Crabapple has extremely high nutritional value.The scale of crabapple planting is large in China,the annual output is extremely rich and it has become the main source of income for local farmers.However,due to the backwardness of the local scientific and technological,and crabapple as a regional fruit,the processing of the crabapple,especially the pitting,is still a semi-automatic mode for pitting by machine after artificial rectification.The processing efficiency is low,which affects the economic benefits of the crabapple industry.The difficulty in automatic production and processing of crabapple is the automatic orientation.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to study the automatic orientation device of crabapple.In this paper,through the search for relevant fruit processing literature and tracking the latest developments in automatic orientation devices,after synthesis and summary,an automatic orientation mechanism with simple structure,accuracy execution and high efficiency was designed.Firstly,the model of the crabapple automatic orientation device was designed by the 3D modeling software Solid Edge.Then,the position and orientation of crabapple falling into the orientation ring was divided into 12 kinds.The process simulation of the crabapple with different position and orientation falling into the simplified orientation mechanism was established in the Adams software environment,which verified the feasibility of the mechanism and the necessity of pre-orientation using the water buoyancy method.Secondly,the finite element simulation of the inversion mechanism was carried out by using ABAQUS software,and the fatigue life calculation was performed in combination with FE-SAFE software,which confirmed the practical operation feasibility of the inversion mechanism.Thirdly,the orientation test of 12 kinds of position and orientation of crabapple was carried out,and the influences of the stems?the water stuck to crabapple without stems and rubber or nylon friction belt to the automatic orientation mechanism were also tested too.The test further verified the rationality of the orientation device,and the orientation success rate of crabapple was also analyzed.Subsequently,the S7-200 Smart PLC and Smart 700 IE V3 touch screen were selected,and the control program was written to complete the development of the fully automated control system of the device.Finally,the orientation device was processed and automated control was realized,the automatic orientation test was carried out too.It proved that the orientation success rate of the device was more than 80%,and the production efficiency was greatly improved,which met the design requirements of the orientation device.
