Research On The Application Of Visual Flow And Rhythm In Book Design

Reading books is an important part of people's spiritual life.When we finish reading,the reading process and rhythm of books are produced.The reading process means that the reader's point of view and reading order are guided by books;the reading rhythm exists in the orderly time division and organization that people feel when reading books.This paper demonstrates the application of visual flow and rhythm in book design with combination of successful cases starting from the reader's reading experience,analyzes the reading ob-ject and environment,expounds the visual flow and rhythm expression etc.Through such reverse research,a reasonable method of book design is summarized,which helps for fin-ishing designer to design a book with good visual flow and rhythm.The author with work experience of an art book editor has found through compara-tive studyof domestic and foreign hand-painted technique books for over ten years,espe-cially in China that most best-selling books recognized by readers can embody the visual process and the concept of rhythm in book design and can provide a good reading experi-ence for readers,thus indicating the importance of visual process and rhythm in book de-sign.Therefore,it is of great application valueto study its relevant characteristics,its methods and basic rules.It is also of great significance to sufficiently convey book con-tents,expand the market efficiency of books,and enhance the standard and level of book design research.So far,a large number ofresearches and analysis have showed the visual process and rhythm in book design under continuous development.In nowadays rapidly developing society,with the gradual fragmentized time for people to arrange reading,it is necessary to consider the influence of this factor in book design.Thus,it is of great importanceto help readers to absorb book contents efficiently through design.Book design ultimately aims at information transmission.Through reasonable planning of visual processes andrhythm,information can be accurately and fully conveyed so that readers can experiencethe joy of reading,which is also the mission of a book binding designer.Starting from reader's read-ing experience,this paper has analyzed the design meaning of visual process and rhythm,corresponding characteristics,principles and methods of its application,and then applied the research results to the graduation project,finally achieved the goal of providing thoughts for relevant working staffs and researchers.
