Research On The Application Of Rope Weaving In Modern Furniture Design

As a type of folk crafts,cord knitting has been handed down from generation to generation.Cord knitting has a rich history and there are abundant examples of the application of it to furniture design.This paper aims to explore the combination of folk art and industrial design through the application research on cord knitting in modern furniture design.This paper first traces the origin of cord knitting and the material technology to have a better understanding of cord knitting through the combing of the origin and development of cord knitting,investigating the characteristics of cord knitting by sorting out the materials for and process of cord knitting.Secondly,it extracted the modern furniture design concept embodied in the design of the cord-woven furniture,and detailedly analyzed the collected cord-woven furniture works.It expounds the application of cord knitting technology in modern furniture from the perspective of the material types of cord knitting,the techniques of cord knitting,the functional requirements of cord knitting techniques in furniture,the relationship between cord knitting techniques and furniture frame structures.Then,it elaborates the advantages of the cord-woven furniture from the perspectives of the artistic characteristics of the cord-woven furniture and its popularity,and conducts a detailed analysis of the artistic characteristics of the cord-woven furniture.Moreover,it proposes innovative solutions to existing problems in cord furniture.Finally,it conducts a thorough analysis of the representative cord-sewing furniture works and the author's own design of the cord-woven furniture works.Based on the case analysis of the cord-woven furniture works and the author's own cord-woven furniture design experience,the application of cords to the design of modern furniture is fully discussed.The application of cord knitting to modern furniture design is instructive for the inheritance and further development of folk crafts.
