Metallapentalynes/metallapentalenes show novel photonic and electronic properties as a type of unique fused metalla-aromatic complexes,which exhibit broad application prospect.There are two principal methods to synthesize metallapentalynes/metallapentalenes so far,including two steps method via osma vinyl complex coordinated by intra alkynyl group and one step method via carbolong reacting with metal reactants.One step method is more efficient and theoretically easy to modify its functional groups,now becoming an important research orientation in metallapentalynes/metallapentalenes chemistry.This work realized introducing several functional groups into metallapentalynes/metallapentalenes.based on functionalization of "carbolong"——a type of multiyne organic compounds.On top of this,we studied the reaction of functional metallapentalynes with different acetylenes.For further understanding of these complexes,we also studied their photonic properties and molecular electronic properties.The dissertation consists of the following five chapters:In chapter 1,metallapentalynes/inetallapentalenes are briefly introduced about their synthesis,reactivity,properties and application prospect,based on the work of this dissertation.Besides,the development of single molecular electronics and its application on metalla-aromatics are presented as well.At last,research objectives and plan of this dissertation are presented.In chapter 2,we designed and tried to introduce functional groups into "carbolong"to get monofunctional matallapentalynes.We successfully realized the synthesis of the"carbolong" and metallapentalynes.We also characterized their structures to verify our assumption.Tn chapter 3,we studied the reaction of monofunctional mata.llapentalyne withterminal acetylenes,which gave out difunctional cyclobutaosmapentalene complexes.We also studied the universality of this reaction with different terminal acetylenes.These reactions showed high efficiency.We then examed their absorption spectrum and photothermal properties,finding out that most of them showed excellent photothermal property.Besides,single molecular conductance experiments showed their potential in molecular electronics.In chapter 4,a new type of reaction was introduced:monofunctional matallapentalyne reacting with aryl acetylenes to give out open-looped osmapentalynes with two functional groups.We vertify its universality for different acetylenes and synthesized a series of bifunctional metallapentalynes.Photonic properties of these new complexes are studied as well.In chapter 5,the innovation of the dissertation is concluded and the outlook of this research is presented.
