With the increasing sustainable development and environment awareness of peoples,Biodegradable polymer macromolecule materials have been attracted more and more attention.Among the numerous biodegradable polymers,PBAT is a most widely applied biodegradable polymer due to its good molecular flexibility and biodegradability.However,there are still many defects such as poor processing performance and barrier properties,which further limit its application and development.In this work,In order to improve the poor processing performance and barrier properties etc.comprehensive properties of PBAT,the natural bio-based materials chitin and beeswax were added to PBAT to prepare PBAT/chitin biodegradable composite and PBAT/beeswax biodegradable film by blending method.A series of characterizations were carried out.1.Biodegradable material of different content of chitin?0.5%?1%?2%?4%?8%?was used as filler for the preparation of Poly?butylene adipate-co-terephtalate?PBAT resin and chitin composites by straight melt blending method.PBAT and Chitin was melt blending in a Brabender plastograph mixer(OHG47055,40 cm3)at 140 oC and total mixing time 10 min.The mixing was performed at a rotation speed of 50 rpm.Thereafter,melt blends were sheared into granules.The blend granules were molded into sheets?Thickness 1.5 mm?via compression molding.A series of composite materials with different contents of chitin was obtained.The properties of PBAT/chitin composites were characterized by using a series of testing including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy?FT-IR?,X-ray diffraction?XRD?,scanning electron microscopy?SEM?,thermogravimetric analysis?TGA?and mechanical properties.The analysis results of SEM showed that chitin could homodisperse in the PBAT matrix in spite of the compatilizer has not been introduce when the addition content of chitin was 0.5%and 1%.The homodisperse of chitin may lead to well mechanical properties.The thermal stability of PBAT/chitin composites was slightly enhanced due to the addition of chitin compared to the PBAT.Additionally,mechanical tests showed that the tensile strength and elongation at break of PBAT/chitin composite was increased by 82.48%and 64.18%,respectively,when 0.5%chitin was added.2.We prepared PBAT/beeswax biodegradable films with solution casting.The thickness of the film varies from 2035?m.Different content of beeswax?1%?2%?4%?6%?was added into PBAT matrix to prepared PBAT/beeswax biodegradable films.The morphology,structural characterizations and thermal properties were analyzed by FT-IR,XRD,SEM,TGA and DSC etc.Mechanical properties,optical properties,contact Angle and water vapor transmittance testing were also performed.FT-IR and XRD analysis indicated that the beeswax was successfully incorporated into PBAT matrix.The water vapor barrier properties show that the barrier properties of PBAT/beeswax biodegradable films materials were improved.The water vapor transmission rate was decreased by 33?64%.In addition,optical properties were also improved and visible light transmittance was increased by 8.5%.
