With the increasing of water cut rate of Oil well the produced fluid in the Daqing oilfield, the sewage treatment capacity of the oilfield has increased dramatically, which has caused great pressure to the surface sewage treatment capacity of the oilfield. In order to improve the capacity of sewage treatment, more efficient sewage treatment technologies need to be studied. The multi-cup isocratic separatorr is a new type of high efficient oil-water separator developed by shallow pool theory and multi cup isokinetic theory. However, the separator has a poor separation effect on the small size oil droplets of the sewage. Therefore, the separator and the coalescence device are used together to improve the oil-water separation effect. In this paper,by consulting a large number of literatures, this paper reviews the domestic and foreign research status of coalescence technology and oil-water separator,The principle of agglomerating and increasing the droplet size and the separation principle of multi-cup isocratic oil-water separators are studied.Experiments are carried out in the laboratory to determine the oil and water separation effect of the combined use of the two.The effect of the coalescence apparatus on increasing the oil droplet particle size was tested, and the effect of increasing the particle size of the oil droplets on different flow lengths was studied.Under the conditions of different liquid moisture content, indoor experiments were carried out on the separators with different sedimentation cup inlet gaps to optimize the separator with the best separation effect. The separator and the coalescence device were used together for experiments to determine the final Oil-water separation effect, experiments show that the separation effect of the combined device is significantly better than the oil-water separator alone.
