People spend more than 80% of their time on average each day,therefore Indoor Air Quality(referred to as IAQ)is directly related to the physical and mental health of occupants.As is known to everyone,Sick Building Syndrome(referred to as SBS)caused by indoor air pollution is not uncommon.Furniture products are one of the main sources of VOCs in indoor environment,which have become the third largest source of indoor air pollution ranking after construction materials and decoration materials.Sofa leather,as the main raw material for soft furniture and decorative materials,requires a large amount of pretreatment auxiliaries during the processing process.These auxiliaries are partially left on sofa leather products,which greatly increases the content of VOCs in sofa leather.Therefore,environmental quality and safety are highly valued by consumers.However,there is no complete and uniform detection method for VOCs in sofa leather,especially the test method of trace VOCs under daily conditions.In addition,research has mostly focused on general leather and automotive interior materials,and that of VOCs on sofas and other furniture fabrics has been small and fragmented as well.At the same time,the standards for concentration of VOCs emitted from leather and artificial leather are still not perfect.Therefore,it is difficult to assess environmental quality of sofa leather products.In view of solving these problems,in this paper,pretreatment technology of sampling bags and the environmental test chamber,combined with thermal desorption-gas chromatography mass spectrometry technology,were used to give a research on the detection technology,release analysis,and release evaluation of VOCs in sofa leather.First of all,this paper has established a method for determining trace VOCs emitted from sofa leather.In this paper,sample bags were used to process and collect the samples.The samples were enriched by Tenax tubes and analyzed by thermal desorption-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(TD-GC-MS)for qualitative and quantitative analysis of gas samples.This method has a wide linear range,good precision,and high recovery rate,which can apply for analyzing and determining trace VOCs emitted from sofa leather under actual conditions in daily life.The method is suitable as a general method for promoting in the industry,and is a supplement of the existing VOCs test methods emitted from leather and artificial leather.Secondly,based on the fact that the study related to sofa leather materials is relatively limited and fragmented,this paper systematically analyzes the types and concentration of VOCs emitted from sofa leather.Qualitative and quantitative analysis of 21 kinds of different types of sofa leather samples were carried out by sampling bag and TD-GC-MS technology.And the industrial sources of VOCs emitted from sofa leather were preliminarily explored as well,thus to provide technical referencefor the environmental control of sofa leather.Finally,this article has evaluated the concentration of VOCs emitted from sofa leather under actual conditions.Four kinds of sofa leather samples from the same manufacturer were tested for release amount by environmental test chamber combined with TD-GC-MS technology.By establishing the relationship between the release trend and the long-term attenuation model of VOCs,and comparing the concentration of VOCs in sofa leather with the limit value,the evaluation was conducted and the environmental quality of sofa leather samples was evaluated.
