Under the background of the Regionally Coordinated Development Strategies, urban agglomeration becomes the basic unit of economic development.Industry began to cluster development, and the urban environmental pollution also gradually concentrated. It is a new trend to study environmental pollution from the perspective of regional characteristics, especially of the development characteristics of urban agglomeration.Based on the three factors of density, distance and division proposed by the 2009 World Development Report:Reshaping Economic Geography, and the STIRPAT model, this paper creates a density-distance-division(3D)model for the study of the factors affecting environmental pollution.Using the panel data of 29 cities in the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration during 2005-2015,this paper studies analyze the relationship between density, distance, division and industrial wastewater,SO2 and soot emission with two estimation methods of FGLS and PCSEs.We find that:Firstly, there is an inverse U-shaped curve between economic density and environmental pollution. In the whole area, the inflection point has not appeared, while the inflection point has appeared in the core area, which means pollution is being reduced in the core area and increased in the whole area with increasing economic density.Secondly, economic distance reduction has a positive impact on environment quality, and there are different results by studying different pollutants and different areas.Thirdly, the impacts of fragmentation on three pollutants are inconsistent. It increases industrial wastewater, while decreases emissions of SO2 and soot.In addition, the proportion of second production is the main factor affecting the environmental pollution of the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration. The proportion of the state-owned enterprises is negatively related to industrial wastewater, and is positively related to industrial SO2 and dust;the results of the impact of scientific and technological input on the three environmental pollutants are negative. The "Pollution Haven Hypothesis" based on foreign direct investment is basically established in the Central Plains urban agglomeration, but the research in the core area needs to be further verified. This thesis combines the analysis method of theoretical and empirical, qualitative and quantitative, the subjective and objective, analyzing the influence of 3D factors on environmental pollution.this paper. This paper puts forward that the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration should further promote the equalization of public service to increase the density, and increase the investment of infrastructure to shorten the distance and reasonable intervention measures to reduce segmentation and promote market integration.
