With the development of modern science and technology,the performance of a single metal material already can't satisfy the actual market demand.And good comprehensive properties make continuous carbon fiber reinforced aluminum matrix composite become a research focus.At present,commonly used preparation methods of Cf/Al composites can be classified as solid state processes?powder metallurgy process,diffusion bonding process,etc.?and liquid processes?squeeze casting process,vacuum pressure impregnation process,no pressure impregnation process,etc.?.But the existing preparation method needs high manufacturing cost along with long production cycle.Furthermore,requirements of equipment is high.Therefore,this topic aiming at preparing Cf/Al composites through the electromagnetic forming technology is proposed in this thesis.By metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscopy,the microstructures were observed.The interface phases were detected by X-ray diffractometer.mechanical properties were measured by tensile testing machine and brinell hardness tester.Also,the experimental results and problems happened during the experiment were analyzed to seek the best process parameters and put forward to improvement direction of the technical route.In order to solve the problem of poor compatibility between carbon fiber and metal matrix,and improve the interface binding force between carbon fibers and aluminum alloy substrate,copper plating on carbon fiber surface was obtained.The main procedures of plating technique are:addition cleaning,erosion,sensitization,activation,degumming,chemical copper plating.After the design of experiment tooling?mould and coil,ect.?And experiment scheme,Cf/Al composites with good performance were successfully manufacturing by the electromagnetic forming machine.The micrographs show that,with the increase of voltage,relatively good surface combination of carbon fiber and aluminum alloy matrix is observed.Obviously,aluminum alloy came on permeating the gaps between dispersive carbon fibers.Based on XRD diffraction analysis,interface reaction is very weak,which few brittle phase Al4C3 generated on the interface.When the discharge voltage increased to 2000v,the tensile strength and brinell hardness of Cf/Al composites got a big promotion.The tensile strength reached 101.76 MPa,11.7%higher and 12.4%higher than it of aluminum alloy matrix under the same voltage and no voltage.The brinell hardness reached 35.8HBW,1.10 times more and 1.09 times more than it of aluminum alloy matrix under t and no voltage.When the discharge voltage was too high,the tensile strength trended to decline and the brinell hardness kept the level.Analysis from the micrographs,high voltage will cause the fractures of carbon fibers and cracks of aluminum alloy substrate.So,the pattern how electromagnetic force took effect should be studied.
