Assessment Of Present Water Pollution Of Yanhe River And Management Suggestions

The freshwater resource is one of the important issues related to the national economy and the people's livelihood.Yanhe River is the second largest river in Yan'an City and also the main supplier of freshwater resources.With the development of industry and the improvement of living standards,Yanhe River was polluted in recent years.However,the pollution status is not yet clear.Therefore,the current situation of water pollution in Yanhe River is assessed.Understanding the present situation of water pollution in Yanhe River Basin,analyzing the reason of pollution would help to establish the strategy and direction of water pollution control in Yanhe River Basin specifically.These results are benefit for promoting implementation of water pollution control in Yanhe River basin,improving water quality and enhancing water resources management in Yanhe River.As a result,this study was based on the analysis of the present situation of water pollution in Yanhe River Basin.Through analysis on pollution derivation,the strategy and direction of water pollution control in Yanhe River Basin was discussed.The results also offered some suggestion on healthy and well-organized water treatment for Yanhe River to provide some reference for the sustainable development of water environment management in Yan'an City and for the treatment of water pollution in other areas.The main results are as follows:1.During 2006-2015 years,the overall water quality of Yanhe River basically met the requirement of the functional areas of water quality standard.The Yangjiawan controlled section of the province as a reference section of implementation of the III water quality standards in"surface water environmental quality standard"?GB3838-2008?expereienced severe water pollution.In the future,water basin before this monitoring section should be priorily preserved and protected,focusing on the pollutants including BOD₅,petroleum,three types of COD;the water quality of other monitoring sections should be strictly monitored on the seven pollution factors involving BOD₅,COD,volatile phenol,arsenic?As?,chromium six(Cr⁶⁺),ammonia nitrogen?NH₃-N?.These pollution factors may be the main pollutant in Yanhe River Basin during future development.2.The overall water quality of Yanhe River was identified as slight pollution,little change was observed over these years.But the six pollution factors named BOD₅,COD,permanganate index,NH₃-N,petroleum,Cr⁶⁺shoud be monitered strictly to prevent further deterioration of water quality.3.There are some problems on water pollution prevention and control work for Yanhe River Basin:The shortage of water resources and poor water purification capacity;A serious threat on water environment induced by explotation and utilization of resources;The effect of sewage water treatment facilities and projects was not sufficiently explored;The atmosphere was not formed on participating in the prevention and control of water pollution within the whole society.4.Based on the above situation and problems,combined with the distribution of water resources,some suggestions are made on the prevention and control of water pollution in Yanhe River Basin:?1?to implement the water pollution prevention and control work responsibility;?2?to enhance supervision dynamics on the resources development enterprise;?3?to ensure the water pollution control facilities and projects play an effective role;?4?to increase publicity and make water environment information public.Only combination of prevention and control together,development in order and enhancement of the management would warrant the function and sustainable utilization of Yanhe River Basin.
