Epoxy esters are products of the reaction of epoxy resins with vegetable oil fatty acids.Epoxy esters are light colored viscous liquids or low melting solids.Combining the outstanding performance of epoxy resin,the solvent-borne epoxy ester coating formed by vegetable oil fatty acid modified epoxy resin has air-dryness,tough film,and strong impact resistance,strong adhesion to metal,and excellent water resistance,Alkali resistance,chemical resistance.Epoxy esters can be used in automotive chassis,agricultural machinery,construction machinery and other steel structures.However,a large amount of volatilized solvents cause environmental pollution.Therefore,attention has been paid to the research and development of aqueous epoxy esters in recent years.In this paper,epoxy resin with different molecular weight,unsaturated fatty acid(tall oil fatty acid,dehydrated ricinoleic acid,soybean oleic acid,tung oil acid,tung linoleic acid),polyether amine M2070,N,N-dimethy-l,3-Aminodiamine(DMPDA),diethanolamine(DEA),different types of cross-linking agents(small molecular weight epoxy resins,IPDI,HDI),etc.are used as raw materials to synthesize cationic/non-ionic waterborne epoxy ester.In this paper,the effects of different variables on the viscosity,particle size,particle size distribution and particle morphology of cationic/non-ionic waterborne epoxy ester emulsions were studied using dynamic light scattering particle size analyzer and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that the amount of cationic hydrophilic monomer and the amount of non-ionic hydrophilic monomer are important factors affecting the binary distribution of emulsion particle size,with the hydrophilic group content(cationic hydrophilic monomer amount,non-ionic hydrophilic single As the amount of body)increases,the average particle size of the water-based epoxy ester colloid decreases and the viscosity increases.The particle size distribution narrows as the content of hydrophilic groups increases.TEM shows that the aqueous epoxy ester emulsion particles have a regular spherical structure.The emulsion was tested for film coating,thermo gravimetric analysis,hardness,adhesion,acid resistance,water resistance,and salt water resistance.The results show that the hardness of the coating film can reach 1H,adhesion is ?1,water resistance is ?168h,acid resistance is ?36h,alkali resistance is ?36h,and it has good coating performance.Thermo gravimetric analysis showed that the film began to decompose at 350? and decomposed completely around 450?,indicating good thermal stability of the film.
