Objective: To study the effect of different contents of nano-copper on the properties of nano-copper/silicone sheath.Methods: Nano-copper with different mass was mixed with silicone to make 1mm-thick nano-copper/silicone sheath,which was vulcanized at 25? for 24 hours.The structure characteristics of nano-copper/silicone sheathes with different contents of nano-copper were observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The thermal stability,mechanic properties and water absorption of films with different content of nano-copper were annlyzed.Results: Nano-copper particles dispersed in the film more evenly in the case of low concentrations with very little agglomeration.With concentrations of nano-copper increasing,the agglomeration phenomenon of nano-copper in the Sheath is relatively serious;the tensile strength of nano-copper/silicone sheath,elongation at break and tear strength were down,while its hardness,water absorption and thermal stability were significantly improved.Conclusion: The little amount of copper nano-particles can significantly change the physical and chemical properties of the silicone sheath,when the concentration of nano-copper reaching 3%,the mechanical properties could reach the standards of medical materials.
