Three-dimensional CAD system is widely used in designing automotive panel die non-standard cam to shorten the design cycle.But the existing non-standard cam design system relies on manual experience,has low design efficiency,and its quality is difficult to guarantee.Therefore,it is urgent to study and develop standardized and specialized non-standard cam design system to improve the design quality and design efficiency.In base of deeply analyzing and summarizing the existing non-standard cam design methods,the problems such as stacking wood-based template design method,low efficiency adjustment of parameter and standard parts are mainly studied.Combined with the project of"4th mold design system"of SAIC Volkswagen,a new non-standard cam design method which is template-based and fully parametric is proposed based on CATIA platform in this paper.The interactive non-standard CAM aided designing system-INCS is developed.The non-standard cam template reconstruction is competed through surface replacement,parameter modification and rapid adjustment of standard parts in INCS.In order to improve the success rate of synchronous updating after replacement,a new method for replacing process elements is proposed based on analyzing the characteristics of process surface structure and the shortcomings of existing technology replacement methods.This method make full use of correlation design based on"Publish"in CATIA assembly design to separates the process design and structural design.The shape and direction of the process elements are correctly judged according to the shape and structure characteristics of process elements,which effectively improves the process replacement success rate.This make great contribution to realize interactive non-standard cam design system.To solve the problem of low efficiency when adjusting standard part in non-standard cam parametric template because of different kinds and number standard part,a new standard design method based on standard part positioning sketch is proposed.This method realizes the correlation design between the standard parts and the standard parts base by"publish"and"associated copy".The correlation design among standard positioning point number,the standard part number and the standard parts base number are realized by the feature pattern and the user pattern.By the coordinates conversion,projection and other method,the three-dimensional position of standard parts is fully mapped to the position of standard position points which helps achieve rapid adjustment of standard parts.Finally,the function and process of INCS is introduced in details.And kinds of typical non-standard cam in automotive panel die are designed through the INCS.Compared with the design efficiency of traditional non-standard cam design,the feasibility and practicability of this system is verified.
