Antibacterial agents play a crucial role in preventing and treating infectious diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria.Of various antibacterial agents,povidone-iodines have attracted a great attention due to their advantages,such as a broad spectrum of antibacterial properties,high antibacterial activity,stability,safety,etc.In this text,three new povidone-iodine-based antibacterial polymer materials were synthesized,and their performances were systematically studied.The main researches are as follows:Using the radical polymerization,P?NVP-MMA?was synthesized with N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone?NVP?and methyl methacrylate?MMA?as comonomers,and the morphology,size,molecular weight,and hydrophilic-hydrophobic properties of P?NVP-MMA?were well controlled by tuning the feed ratio of NVP to MMA.After then,P?NVP-MMA?was allowed to undergo a complexation reaction with iodine,resulting in the formation of P?NVP-MMA?-I2,whose iodine content was determined using the iodometric method.Finally,by the assist of plate-counting method,the antibacterial property of P?NVP-MMA?-I2 was evaluated with E.coli,S.aureus,and P.aeruginosa as mode bacteria.In a“polymerization-iodination”two-step reaction,P?NVP-DVB-St?-I2 was synthesized using styrene?St?as monomer of polystyrene,NVP as monomer of povidone-iodine,and divinylbenzene?DVB?as crosslinking agent.By using a variety of advanced techniques,the morphology,size,and chemical composition of P?NVP-DVB-St?-I2 were characterized,and the iodine content of P?NVP-DVB-St?-I2was also determined using the iodometric method.After the antibacterial and cytotoxicity tests,P?NVP-DVB-St?-I2 has been proven to possess high antibacterial activity,as well as low cytotoxicity.By the aid of a“polymerization-iodination-spinning”three-step method,P?NVP-AN?-I2 was fabricated using acrylonitrile?AN?and NVP as starting materials.Then,the morphology,structure,molecular weight,iodine content of the as-fabricated P?NVP-AN?-I2 were determined as well.Finally,the high antibacterial activity of P?NVP-AN?-I2 against both E.coli and S.aureus,even with a low sample concentration,was verified using the plate-counting method.Based on studies above,we are sure that,thanks to their antibacterial effectiveness,the povidone-iodine-based polymer materials will have great potential for application in the field of antibacterial and antifouling.
