The design capability of the end mill is badly affected by many factors,such as resources and system,and many problems exist.Facing the situation is more serious,highlighted in the following two aspects: On the one hand,the advanced design technology of cutting tool can not be applied to the design process of tools in time;On the other hand,the design process is often lack of effective scientific management.As a new generation of tools,the milling rate and metal removal rate of solid carbide end milling cutter are far more than those of high speed steel end milling cutter.Therefore,it is necessary to optimize the design method of the solid carbide end milling cutter and to improve the management level of the design process.In this paper,the graphic design process of cemented carbide design process,as well as the modeling of the graphic design process and the management of the graphic design process,to carry out in-depth research.Firstly,the graphical design process of solid carbide end milling cutter is established with Visio by understanding the graphic design characteristics and mastering the solid carbide end milling cutter design process,and all the process modules related to solid carbide end milling cutter design are established,which lay a foundation for establishing a process model.And meanwhile,the automatic design of the partial graphical process module is completed with Visual C++,as well as a simple verification of the automation of the graphic design process is realized.Secondly,according to the characteristics of complex design process,wide range of areas and more consumption of resources,the comprehensive,hierarchy,and periodicity andrepeatability of design process for integral carbide end milling cutter are studied in depth.And a modeling method of hierarchical design process with graphical features is proposed,and its process is completed under the Visio graphical platform.Then,the personnel,tasks,resources and other elements in the design process management are analyzed.Finally,aiming at the characteristics of the management elements in the design process,and based on the data requirements and functional requirements of design process management system for solid carbide end milling cutter,the corresponding database is designed.By using Justep tools,the system interface,function module and process management process are designed.
