Research On The Design Of Bamboo Scrimber Courtyard Furniture

With the increasing demand for courtyard furniture,wood resources suitable for such furniture are more and more scarce.It is necessary to find a suitable alternative material.The purpose of this study is to design and manufacture courtyard furniture using bamboo scrimber.Based on the analysis of the comprehensive properties of bamboo scrimber,the product attributes of courtyard furniture and the existing problems,the basic strategies and methods for the design and manufacture of courtyard furniture using bamboo scrimber are put forward.The courtyard furniture has the characteristics of proportional scale,random and simple modeling,good weather resistance and coordination with the courtyard environment,which are suitable for recreational and recreational activities.The study shows that the bamboo scrimber has higher density and better mechanical properties than the ordinary wood,the size of dry shrinkage and swelling can be smaller,and it can meet the requirements of furniture manufacturing;the hardness is high,the wear resistance is good,it can adapt to the outdoor environment;the processing performance is good,the basic machining can make the good quality workpiece.The color of bamboo scrimber is natural,carbonized and zebra striped and dyed.It also has the characteristics of cultural connotation and environmental protection.Therefore,it is considered that the bamboo scrimber furniture is an excellent material for courtyard furniture.There are many problems such as high cost,excessive strength design,deformation and failure,excessive weight and monotonous form.The main strategies for the design and manufacture of courtyard furniture using bamboo scrimber include:coping with a lightweight design strategy with too much weight,including the specifications of the designed components to be suitable for the characteristics of the bamboo scrimber.By analyzing the density and expansion coefficient of commonly used furniture materials,it is considered that materials such as metal and wood can be used in conjunction with bamboo scrimber to reduce weight.The structure of sandwich plate,special section section and thin-walled pipe can reduce the weight of bamboo scrimber products under the premise of ensuring the strength.There are models and chamfered components with edge lines that visually make the shape of the product lighter.Disassembly connectors can be used to reduce the light weight of installation and handling;to cope with high cost and monotonous material diversification design strategy;to deal with dry shrinkage and swelling material comprehensive treatment strategy;to cope with overdesigned structural design strategies.In this research,we have designed and manufactured the whole bamboo scrimber program and the "bamboo scrimber+metal" program,demonstrating the above research results.
