The content of apatite in the Hebei Baiquan magnetic tailings is higher,and the main gangue minerals are mainly quartz and feldspar.It is well worthwhile to undertake the flotation exploration to recycle the apatite from magnetic tailingsusing a normal temperature flotation reagent.The objective of this paper is to explore a flotation reagent which can be used at room temperature.The flotation behaviors of collectorDYX and depressantsodium silicatewithapatite,feldspar and quartzwere studied.To explain the interactionsbetween reagents and minerals,the Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,zeta-potentials,contact anglesmeasurements and molecular mechanics simulation,in conjunction with the results of single minerals flotation were investigated.The main results are listed as following:(1)Collector DYX had good collecting abilities on apatite and feldspar single minerals,and bad collecting performance on quartz mineral at room temperature.And,the collecting abilityof collector DYX for apatite is better than that of feldspar.Sodium silicatewith a good depressing effect on both apatite and feldspar minerals.The depressing effect of sodium silicate on feldspar is superior to that of apatite,when small amount of sodium silicate used.(2)Zeta potentialsresultsindicatedthat the electrostatic adsorptions of collector DYX on apatite and feldspar surfaces were impossible.According to the results of FTIRspectra,in conjunction with the flotation results,it is obvious to find that the collector DYX could adsorb on the surfaces of apatite and feldspar minerals in bongding adsorption.In other words,carboxylic acid calcium precipitation generatingon the surface active sites of apatite and feldspar surfaces leads to the adsorption of collector DYX on these two minerals' surfaces.(3)Molecular mechanics simulation and interaction energies illustrate that collector DYX coulsd adsorb on apatite and feldspar surfaces.And,the reaction energy of DYX-apatite is stronger than that of feldspar.While,the reaction energy of sodium silicate-apatite is smaller than that of feldspar under the condition of pulp pH 10.(4)In order to recycle apatite from Hebei Baiquan magnetic separation tailings,the open-circuit flotation under condition of temperature 26?,stirring speed 1992r/min,pulp density 20%,pH 10.0,sodium silicate dosage 400g/t and DYX dosage 400g/t,the open circuit tests were carried out.And,thephosphate concentrate with P2O5 grade of 33.71%,recovery rate of 65.26%was obtained.Under the same agent system,closed-circuit experiment result with P2O5 grade of 34.38%,recovery rate of 91.67%,and the tailing P2O5 grade 0.64%provedthat the collector DYX wasan effective collector for recycling apatite from magnetic tailings.
