In this study, three different grazing intensities, zero grazing(CK),moderate grazing(MG)and heavy grazing(HG),were set up in the Stipa Breviflora of Xilingol League,Inner Mongolia, the study analyzed the height, coverage, density, aboveground biomass, soil nutrients of the major plant populations, and their responses to grazing intensity in response to Chemometrics characteristics of the major plant populations and soils,it provides theoretical basis and data support for reasonable grazing intensity, reasonable utilization and sustainable development of Stipa Breviflora Desert Steppe. The main results were as follows:1.With the increase of grazing intensity, the height, coverage, density and aboveground biomass of the main plant populations decreased. The height, coverage, density and biomass of the main plant populations were higher in August than in other months.2.With the increase of grazing intensity, the content of total nitrogen in the main plant populations increased.C/N of main plant populations increased at first and then decreased with the increase of grazing intensity,C/P and N/P were relatively stable and high in the moderate grazing area in the same year's successive months.3.The content of soil total nitrogen increased with the increase of grazing intensity. The total potassium content of soil in heavy grazing area was higher than that in zero grazing area and moderate grazing area. With the increase of soil depth, the content of soil organic carbon decreased under heavy grazing.Under different grazing intensities, with the deepening of soil layer, the content of available k decreased, the content of available p decreased first and then increased, and the content of total n decreased.4.C/P and N/P of soil changed obviously under different grazing conditions in each month. With the increase of grazing intensity,C/N of soil was lower than that of moderate grazing area.5.For the Stipa Breviflora desert steppe, moderate grazing(0.96 sheep/hm2)was the more reasonable grazing intensity in this experiment.
