The resource and environmental constraints of China's agricultural production are becoming increasingly severe. The scope for continuing to develop agriculture through increased factor input has become smaller and smaller.Continuous improvement of agricultural total factor productivity(TFP)is the key measure to ensure the sustainable development of China's agriculture. At present, domestic and foreign scholars mainly examine the impact of technological progress, technical efficiency and scale efficiency on the growth of Chinese agricultural TFP.In the case of multiple inputs,in addition to technological advancement, technical efficiency and scale efficiency, mixing efficiency is also a driving factor for TFP growth(Blak,2001).The change in factor input structure affects TFP growth by changing the mixing efficiency.Since the reform and opening up,China's agricultural input structure has undergone tremendous changes.Does the existing literature contribute to the growth of China's agricultural TFP?No clear answer has yet been given. In view of this, this paper uses the 1978-2017 generalized agriculture, planting industry and the 1997-2017 animal husbandry input and output provincial panel data, using the Hicks-Moorsteen TFP index to completely decompose the general agriculture and its sub-industry TFP.The focus is on the contribution of mixed efficiency to its growth, and then the impact of input structure changes on the growth of TFP in general agriculture and its sub-sectors.the result shows:(1)Impact on the growth of general agricultural TFP.From the perspective of time, the structural changes in factor inputs during 1994-2017 have contributed to the growth of general agricultural TFP.From the perspective of spatial dimension, the change of factor input structure in the eastern region is one of the important driving factors for the growth of agricultural TFP.In the central region, only the change of factor input structure in 1994-2017 increased the growth of agricultural TFP.The western region only changed between 1978 and 1984.Agricultural TFP growth has a positive effect.(2)Impact on the growth of planting industry TFP.From the perspective of time, the structural changes in factor inputs during 1978-1984 promoted the growth of TFP in crop production. From the spatial dimension, the changes in the input structure of the Huanghuaihai,South China and Northwest China have promoted the growth of TFP in the planting industry, while the structural changes in the input factors in the Northeast, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Southwest have hindered the growth of TFP in the crop industry.(3)Impact on the growth of animal husbandry TFP.From the time dimension, the structural changes in factor inputs during 2008-2017 promoted the growth of TFP in the livestock industry. From the spatial dimension, the changes in the input structure of the Huanghuaihai area and the southeastern region have promoted the growth of the TFP in the animal husbandry. The changes in the input structure of the Northeast, the Loess Plateau, the Mongolian Plateau, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Southwest Mountain have inhibited the livestock TFP.growth of.
