Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the association between insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 gene polymorphism and bone growth and metabolism in female gymnasts.Methods: Samples from 62 adolescent female gymnasts were observed in this study,testing their bone mass,BMD,IGF-1,IGFBP-3,osteocalcin,bone alkaline phosphatase and 25-hydroxy vitamin D in March 2013.Use haploview software and hapmap,NCBI database to select single nucleotide polymorphisms locis.The genotypes were examined in SNP rs2854744?rs2270628?rs2854746?rs3110697?rs2453839 by SNaPshot.Results: 1.It was found that bone mass and BMD was associated with SNP rs2270628 polymorphism.Those who carried with CC genotype had significantly higher femur mass,total body bone mass,Upper limb bone mineral density,spine bone mineral density and Whole body bone density than CT genotype.The levels of IGFBP-3 was associated with SNP rs2453839 polymorphism.The individuals with TT genotype had higher levels of IGFBP-3 than CT genotype.2.After 10 months of follow-up study,It was found that femur bone mass and BMD,25-hydroxy vitamin D was associated with SNP rs2854744,rs2854746,rs3110697.Those who carried with AA genotype had significantly higher femur bone mass and BMD,25-hydroxy vitamin D than AC genotype.Those who carried with CC genotype had significantly higher femur bone mass and BMD,25-hydroxy vitamin D than CG genotype.Those who carried with TT genotype had significantly higher femur bone mass and BMD,25-hydroxy vitamin D than CT genotype.It was found that femur bone mass and BMD,total body bone mass was associated with SNP rs2453839 polymorphism.Those who carried with TT genotype had significantly higher femur bone mass and BMD,total body bone mass than CT genotype.Conclusions: 1.It concludes that SNP rs2270628 polymorphism in IGFBP-3 gene may be molecular genetic markers to predict bone growth and metabolism in female gymnasts.2.rs2854744,rs2854746,rs3110697,rs2453839 can be used as molecular genetic markers of bone growth metabolism change sensitivity in female gymnasts.
