Mineral crystal is an important part of mineral resources and an important pillar of the national economy. The study of mineral crystal evolution is of great significance for geological prospecting, understanding of crystal evolution process and improving quality of crystals. In this paper, terahertz time-domain spectroscopy was used to characterize the evolution of common mineral crystal.Starting from common mineral single crystals,we gradually expanded to mixed crystals and natural mineral crystals.Combined with X-ray diffraction device and optical microscope,a terahertz spectra method for the evolution of mineral crystals had been initially established. The main contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows.?1?Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy was used to detect artificial single mineral crystals, such as KCl,Na2SO4,gypsum.Combined with X ray diffraction and optical microscopy,we found that terahertz optical parameters?absorption coefficient and refractive index?could reflect the variation of inclusions and crystal water, which indicated that the terahertz spectra characterization of single mineral crystal was preliminarily established.?2?We detected the artificial mixed crystal of NaCl and KCl,and changed the growth temperature and content ratio of mixed crystal. The results showed that the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy could simultaneously detect the component content and growth temperature of mixed crystals.?3?Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy system was used to detect natural mineral crystals, such as halite crystal, mixed crystals of gypsum, halite and glauberite, which laid the foundation for terahertz spectra detection of complex natural crystals.
