As an important research area of computer graphics,computer animation is more and more widely used in various fields.With the development of computer hardware and graphics algorithms,computer animation is becoming more and more high quality and high efficiency.Real time animation simulation of outdoor scenes is a popular research topic in computer animation.As one of the most frequently used outdoor scenes,forest scenes have been studied by many researchers who have achieved many research results.Because the forest is a very complex system,so real-time computer simulation will bring enormous calculation pressure to computer,and some researchers proposed pre-calculation methods to reduce the amount of real-time calculation,but it will occupy a large amount of storage space when dealing with a large number of trees.Some researchers proposed complete real-time computing solutions,but they consider each tree as a fully independent individual without calculating of the mutual influence between trees.There are also some researchers who used rigorous physical calculations to simulate tree motions which can get very realistic simulation results on a single tree.However,the physical computation is difficult to apply to large-scale forest scenes because the consumption of a large amount of computational resources.At present,the real-time animation simulation of forest scene is still a problem worthy of study.To solve this problem,we combined the research result of previous researchers on single tree movements with the knowledge of the forest meteorology,and put forward a calculation solution of real-time animation of forest in wind projection.Because this solution takes a lot of empirical formula in forest meteorology,so it has the characteristics of high efficiency compared to pure physical method.At the same time,it considering the influence of the position of the tree to the wind field,which can reflect the physical scene more really compared to the previous solutions.Specifically,the main research work and results can be divided into the following sections:(1)Realize the modeling and animating of a single tree.We established the model of single tree by fractal method,and put forward the LOD method to apply the model to the forest scene.We also simulated the motion of single tree in the wind field.The motion model of braches is spring model,and the motion of leaves is the stochastic method based on 1/f~?noise function.(2)Simulate the real time animation of forest scene in plain region.Firstly,we established the wind field model in the wilderness based on the formula in forest meteorology,and secondly,we studied the wind field attenuation and wind field recovery in forest,and finally we put forward a set of calculation method of real time animation forest scene on the basis of the above studies.(3)Simulate the real time animation of forest scene in mountain area.We studied the distribution of wind field in mountainous areas,and established the relationship between the distribution of the wind field in plain area and mountain area.We realized the real time animation of forest scene in mountain area based on the calculation method of plain area.(4)We illustrate the effect of trees on the wind projection by contrast experiments,and achieve the animation scene of the forest on the plains and mountainous terrain.We also test the computational efficiency.The calculation time of a forest scene with over 1000 trees is less than 2ms and frame rate is more than 15 FPS.
