Ribosome is a universal translational machine in all living cells and the target of many antibiotics.Inhibition of protein translation process is the underlying mechanism of most ribosome-targeting antibiotics.It's reported that ribosome assembly is essential for ribosome function.The regulation of ribosome assembly is an attracting solution for identifying novel targets for antibiotic development.These targets are very critical for developing antibiotics with new mode of action(MOA),thus,holds the promise for tackling the ever-growing crisis of bacterial drug resistance.However,the information of ribosome regulation is sparse,especially the data of ribosomeinteracting proteins.And the data of ribosome regulation,especially ribosome related protein-protein interactions are sparsely stored.A “one-stop” database will definitely facilitate the identification of promising ribosome regulation related targets for antibiotics development.Here,we reported a specific database for ribosome-interacting proteins(RIBOi,www.riboi.org),covering over 642 ribosomal proteins with 119,326 protein-protein interactions for 4 model organisms and 6 pathogens(Homo sapiens,Mus musculus,Rattus norvegicus,Danio rerio,Escherichia coli,Mycobacterium tuberculosis,Salmonella enterica,Klebsiella pneumoniae,Vibrio cholerae,and Yersinia pestis).Besides ribosome-related protein-protein interactions,analysis tools like functional classification,pathway analysis,functional enrichment and protein-protein interaction network analysis are integrated in RIBOi.All these analysis results can be freely downloaded by one click.We believe that the protein-protein interaction networks for ribosome-related proteins in RIBOi database could provide a new insight for both basic research and drug development.
