The simulation of orthotropic deformation has always been a hot research topic in the field of computer graphics, especially in some related fields such as computer games, virtual reality, and 3D animation films. The finite element method is widely used because its simulation results are realistic. The deformation effect of the deformation body is mainly determined by the selected material and the selected constitutive model.Due to the choice of material model and simulation efficiency, most of the deformation simulations are based on isotropic materials, such as St.VenantKirchhoff materials,co-rotating linear materials, etc.,that is,the properties of the elastomer in all directions are same. However, deformations are often not as simple in the real world, such as common muscles, plants, and familiar fabrics, which usually have different properties in different directions, namely anisotropy.Since the space of the anisotropic deformation is relatively large,it is not easy to simulate,so it is difficult to establish an accurate constitutive model.Orthotropic materials are widely used because they exhibit different characteristics in three orthogonal directions, but the parameters are difficult to adjust.Improper adjustment can lead to unstable simulation. Therefore, this paper proposes a simulation method based on finite element method for orthotropic deformation. The main contents and innovations of this paper are as follows:(1)For the orthotropic deformation model, the space is large, and there are nine parameters that need to be adjusted. It is generally difficult to accurately adjust the parameters. In this paper, the material constitutive model of the separated form is improved by improving the strain energy density function of the separated form.A simulation of the orthotropic deformation based on the finite element method is proposed, which makes the designed material more convenient and intuitive.(2)One of the difficulties in designing a deformation is how to make it stable during the simulation process, because unstable deformations can cause errors during the simulation. This paper therefore strengthens the stability conditions, proposes a more effective and stable way to edit the orthotropic deformation, and also discusses the influence of the parameters in the separate strain energy model on the simulation, and gives experimental results. The correctness of the method is proved by multiple experiments and comparative experiments. In this paper,a stable orthotropic material can be designed.
