The worse natural environment and the destruction of human activities in the mining area of Wuhai City make the situation of vegetation restoration still severe.It takes a higher risk for vegetation restoration to use the traditional methods of referring to the community structure of historical vegetation or conducting comparative experiments.Therefore,this study takes the plant communities and soil in the surrounding area and the artificial soil of mining area of Wuhai City as the research object in order to select shrub species with the ability to aggregate soil nutrients or water,and find out the relative abundance of shrub species in the plant functional communities suitable for the growth of coal gangue mountain in mining area based on the objective value of plant functional traits.The purpose of this research is provide a theoretical basis and scientific basis for the configuration of vegetation restoration communities in mining areas.There were 12 vegetation groups in the surrounding area of Wuhai being found.Three plots of shrubs were investigated in each vegetation community and samples of shrubs were collected to determine SLA.The area of plot was 5m x 5m.The soil samples were collected with the origin of square coordinate axis as the reference point,every soil sample was separated from the other samples by 1m,and 0-20 cm soil sample of 1 kg was taken,and the specific coordinates of each shrub were investigated and record.Then,the artificial soil of different layers in the coal gangue dump is sampled.The contents of TN,TP,SOM and water in all of the soil samples were measured.The spatial pattern of plants and soil resources were analyzed by IGPS method,and shrubs with the ability of aggregating soil resources were preliminarily selected.The selected shrub species were tested for sediment transport under different wind speeds,and then the linear relationship between plant characteristics and environmental factors was found to determine the target values of plant functional traits.Finally,the relative abundance of dominant plants was obtained by the CAT model.The results showed that in terms of the spatial patterns of plant and soil resources,The aggregation scale between Artemisia desertorum,Reaumuria songarica and TN,or between Reaumuria songarica and water was smaller than the patch size of TN or water which was larger than research scale(LA),The aggregation scale between Caragana korshinskii and TN was similar with the patch size of TN(S=A),The aggregation scale Tetraena mongolica and TP r was larger than the patch size of TP(S<A or RA),The aggregation scale between Tetraena mongolica,Reaumuria songarica,Ammopiptanthus mongolicus,Nitraria tangutorum and SOM was smaller than the patch size of SOM(S>A),The aggregation scale between Sarcozygium xanthoxylon,Calligonum mongolicum,Haloxylon ammodendron and SOM,between Tetraena mongolica,Caragana tibetica and water were larger than the patch size of SOM(RA),In other cases,shrubs didn't aggregate soil nutrients or water.In terms of species abundance,Sarcozygium xanthoxylon had higher relative abundance in all layers of mining environment,and Artemisia desertorum in 1 and 3 layers of mining area also showed higher relative abundance.Reaumuria songarica followed closely,and the relative abundance of other shrub species in all layers was lower.In terms of species abundance,the relative species abundance of Artemisia desertorum was 0.72 and Sarcozygium xanthoxylon was 0.36 under the condition of covering soil at the bottom of coal gangue dump in mining area.Under the condition of covering soil on the top of coal gangue dump in mining area,the relative species abundance of Sarcozygium xanthoxylon was 0.75 and Artemisia desertorum was 0.19.The shrubs of Caragana korshinskii,Caragana tibetica,Tetraena mongolica,Sarcozygium xanthoxylon,Calligonum mongolicum,Haloxylon ammodendron,Artemisia desertorum,Nitraria tangutorum,Reaumuria songarica had a good ability to aggregate soil nutrients or water,and are suitable for planting as the species of vegetation restoration.Based on the changes between SLA and SOM,crown width and soil water,shrub volume and dust absorption,the bottom of coal gangue dump was suitable for the community configuration with Sarcozygium xanthoxylon and Artemisia desertorum whose relative abundance ratio is 1:2.The top of coal gangue dump was suitable for the community configuration of Sarcozygium xanthoxylon and Artemisia desertorum,but the relative abundance ratio is 4:1.Other species were not suitable for planting as the main species.
