Wengniute Banner of Inner Mongolia is located in the transition zone from desert grassland to forest farmland,which belongs to the shallow coverage area of desert grassland in the special geological and geomorphological area.Its tectonic location is located in the northern margin of the North China Plate,the junction of the Xingmeng orogenic belt and the northern margin of the North China Craton.This region belongs to both the Siramulen metallogenic belt and the Great Hinggan mountains metallogenic belt,which makes this area promising for various types of mineralization.There comes the need to study the metallogenic conditions in the study area for further prospecting direction.However,the lack of outcrop in this area limited the amount of useful geological information and the study of ore-controlling elements,which restricts further development of mineral resources evaluation research.Based on predecessors' data and research results,this paper carries out a series of comprehensive exploration,from surface to underground,from shallow to deep,relying on the project.In the process of exploration,firstly,the shallow basic geological pattern of the study area was initially determined by using the basic geological survey method.,and then the deep geological characteristics of the study area are recognized by comprehensive application of various deep exploration research methods.That is to say,taking the basic geological survey method as the main body,assisted by remote sensing methods,geophysics methods such as gravity,magnetism and electricity,geochemistry methods and drilling methods,the exploration of ore-controlling elements in the study area is carried out,and the characteristics of ore-controlling elements in the study area,such as possible ore-hosting strata,ore-controlling structures and ore-forming-related rock masses,are mastered on the top of the bedrock exposed by combining the results of shallow and deep exploration.After exploration,a new understanding of the characteristics of ore-controlling elements in the study area has been obtained,which proves that the study area has good metallogenic conditions and prospecting potential.On the premise of fully understanding ore-controlling elements in the study area and combining with the regional ore-controlling and metallogenic characteristics,the Aobaoshan lead-zinc deposit in the study area is selected as an example.Comprehensive study of its ore-body characteristics and ore-controlling characteristics show that the ore-bearing strata of Aobaoshan lead-zinc deposit in the study area are Ordovician Baoerhantu Group Bulongshan Formation and the ore-forming rock body is Permian granite.The distribution area of ore-bearing strata in contact with intrusive rocks possesses favorable metallogenic geological conditions like those of large deposits such as Xiaoyingzi and Yujiawopu in the region.The metallogenic prospects of lead-zinc deposits are further affirmed,and two prospecting and predicting areas are delineated in combination with the results of deep exploration and research methods,to provide reference for the work of the next mineral resources evaluation.
