A Study On The Influencing Factors Of Chinese Enterprises On Asean's Outsource Contracted Engineering Projects

Under the background of successively implementing “go global”and “One Belt One Road”strategy,China has seen its high-speed development of insource contracted engineering business from other countries.As one of the most significant economies in Asia,ASEAN is quite attractive for global investment.Particularly in recent years,in view of the expansion of ASEAN's outsource contracted engineering market,the insource business of China developed most rapidly in this region.Meanwhile,since many ASEAN countries is contiguous to China,the cooperation between the two economies not only corresponds to China's diplomacy of building good relationship with neighboring countries,but also provides opportunities for ASEAN to develop its outsource contracted engineering market.Nevertheless,considering the complexity of ASEAN's regional environment,Chinese insource contractors have constantly been blocked when undertaking engineering projects in this region,how to develop China's insource market from ASEAN has turned into a research hot spot as well.In such circumstance,this article summarized current market situation of the engineering projects invested by Chinese contractors and investigated the influencing factors of China on ASEAN's outsource engineering business.First,this article used the panel data of 10 countries in ASEAN in the past 22 years from 1996 to 2017 in order to start an empirical analysis and to discuss the question in the macro level.What should be noticed in the empirical study is that politically speaking,the development of Chinese contractors is negatively correlated with two indicators-supervision of local government and corruption control,which is on the opposite of prediction.Second,in the micro level,this article did an analysis on the procedure of China's construction of Malaysia's east coast railway project including its signing,implementing and halting.Accordingly,it's found that China's insource contracted engineering business from ASEAN is influenced by political factors,economic development,location selection and so on.The result of the empirical study is basically consistent with what we can conclude from the case study.Finally,this article raised suggestions separately from the dimension of government and enterprise based on the result of case study and empirical study mentioned above.
