Taxonomic Study On The Genus Labomimus And The Genus Linan From China

Members of the genera Labomimus and Linan(Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Pselaphinae: Tyrini)are medium to large in size,morphologically similar predatory beetles,commonly found in decaying logs and forestry leaf litter layer.Members of these two genera are mainly predatory on mites,springtails,worms and other small invertebrates.They play an important role in food chain and food webs.Prior to this study,24 species of Labomimus and 10 species Linan have been known worldwide,a majority of them are scattered in the Oriental and southern Palaearctic regions.Based on an examination of nearly 300 specimens collected from the field and borrowed from other institutions,the Chinese species of these two genera are studed.The results are showed as follows:1.Twenty-six species of Labomimus and Linan are recognized,of which 19 species belong to the genus Labomimus and 7 species to genus Linan.Twenty-four new species are found.They are: Labomimus assingi Zhang & Yin,2019(Shaanxi),Labomimus chouwenii Zhang & Yin,2019(Taiwan),Labomimus corpulentus Zhang & Yin,2019(Yunnan),Labomimus dadongmontis Zhang & Yin,2019(Taiwan),Labomimus dilatatus Zhang & Yin,2019(Shaanxi),Labomimus dilaticeps Zhang & Yin,2019(Taiwan),Labomimus dulongensis Zhang & Yin,2019(Yunnan),Labomimus howaichuni Zhang & Yin,2019(Hong Kong),Labomimus jinfomontis Zhang & Yin,2019(Chongqing),Labomimus longnan Zhang & Yin,2019(Gansu),Labomimus maolan Zhang & Yin,2019(Guizhou),Labomimus medogensis Zhang & Yin,2019(Xizang),Labomimus minshanus Zhang & Yin,2019(Gansu),Labomimus niger Zhang & Yin,2019(Sichuan),Labomimus qiujianyuae Zhang & Yin,2019(Xizang),Labomimus sugayai Zhang & Yin,2019(Taiwan),Labomimus wuchaoi Zhang & Yin,2019(Yunnan),Labomimus yue Zhang & Yin,2019(Guangdong),Linan arcitibialis Zhang & Yin,2018(Hubei),Linan denticulauts Zhang & Yin,2018(Guizhou),Linan divaricatus Zhang & Yin,2018(Jiangxi),Linan geneolatus Zhang & Yin,2018(Guizhou),Linan mangshanus Zhang & Yin,2018(Hunan),and Linan mulunensis Zhang & Yin,2018(Guangxi).Besides,two newly recorded are found,they are: Labomimus torticornis(Champion,1925)is newly recorded in Yunnan,and Linan megalobus Yin & Li,2011 is newly recorded in Hubei.2.All species treated in this paper are described in detail.A taxonomic history,collecting method,major diagnostic characters and distribution for 26 species are given.3.Keys to species of the two treated genera are provided.4.A catalog of Labomimus and Linan of the world is given.5.A datebase of world species for Labomimus and Linan are built.6.The distribution of Labomimus and Linan in China is mapped,and their pattern analyzed.
