Members of the brachyglutine genus Triomicrus(Coleoptera: Staphylinidae:Pselaphinae) are mainly distributed in the Palearctic and Oriental regions. They are small in size, commonly found in forestry leaf litter and humus. Species of the genus are predatory on springtails, mites, and other small invertebrates. They are believed to act as an essential link in ecological chain and food web, and have a significant importance for ecological equilibrium. Before this study, 18 species of Triomicrus have been known worldwide, 10 of them were found in China(Zhejiang, Sichuan and Taiwan). Based on an examination of over300 specimens and related references, the taxonomy of Triomicrus from China is studied;the results are summarized as the following:1. Twenty-nine species of Triomicrus are recognized from China, of which 19 species are new to the science(all published): T. inaequalis from Anhui, T. abhorridus, T. aculeus,T. cavernosus, T. damingensis, T. frondosus, T. gutianensis, T. humilis and T. tibialis from Zhejiang, T. hamus from Jiangxi, T. mangshanensis from Hunan, T. adnexus, T. factitatus, T.onerosus and T. secutor from Taiwan, T. cavus and T. longus from Guangxi, T. ludificator and T. algon from Sichuan, T. nabanhensis from Yunnan, T. anfractus from Anhui and Zhejiang, T. mirus from Anhui and Hunan, T. contus from Zhejiang and Jiangxi, T.rougemonti from Zhejiang and Fujian, T. acutus, T. nanlingensis and T. pinnatus from Hunan and Guangdong, T. cochlis from Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi, and T.punctifrons from Chongqing, Sichuan and Shaanxi.2. A taxonomic history, collecting data, distribution and illustrations of major diagnostic characters of 28 species were given. All 28 species were described in detail and with color photos.3. A key to the species of Triomicrus from China is presented.4. A catalog of Chinese Triomicrus is included.5. A database for all known species in the world is built, including the following information: scientific name, author, year of publication, type locality, distribution, taxonomic history and illustration of diagnostic characters.
