Objective:Resistance training has a wide range of applications in competitive sports, public health and medical rehabilitation. The realization of the specific goal of resistance training depends on the design of the training variables.Compared with the training variables such as intensity, volume, interval, frequency and movement mode, the existing research is not enough to pay attention to the tempo training of the resistance training. The limited research is investigating the movement tempo, most of the internal load does not control the time under tension, which may interfere with the conclusion of the relevant conclusions. Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the effects of different tempo during the same time under tension on resistance training. The purpose of this study was to investigate the internal load characteristics of different tempo barbell squats under the same time under tension. Methods:Eighteen male college students from the Shanghai University of Sport volunteered to participate in the study.Subjects participated in a barbell squat repetition maximum(1RM)test,and within 15 days,a barbell squats with the same total time under tension(56s)for different tempo tests(4/2/1 35%1RM,1/2/435%1RM,2/1/0.5 35%1RM and 4/2/1 70%1RM),where the three parts correspond to the eccentric, isometric and concentric phases, respectively. The portable gas metabolism instrument was used to measure the breathing gas during the test, and the blood of the earlobe was collected before and the exercise and after the exercise 3,5,and 7 minutes. The calculation of the energy contributions and relative energy contributions based on the cumulative blood lactic acid, oxygen uptake and post-exercise oxygen debt in the exercise section for different movement tempo barbell squats.Internal load indicators were selected from commonly used physiological indicators(heart rate, blood lactate, oxygen uptake)and psychological indicators(RPE).Results:Under the same time under tension(1)Compare the proportion of different movement phases(4/2/1 vs.1/2/4)(peak heart rate 125.2±12.6 vs.119.5±10.8 bpnn, peak blood lactate 4.0±1.3 vs.4.0±1.2 mM,RPE was 8.8±1.8)and energy contributions characteristics(total energy contributions 82.8±11.1 vs.71.4±11.4 kJ)were not significantly different(P>0.05);(2)Different contrast the duration of the movement phase(4/2/1 vs.2/1/0.5),the fast tempo has a higher internal load stimulus(peak heart rate 134.6±9.3 vs.119.5±10.8 bpm, peak blood lactate 4.9±1.3 vs.4.0±1.2mM,RPE 9.8±1.7 vs.8.8±1.8)(P<0.05),and more stimulation to glycolysis, aerobic system energy contributions,(15.5±4.6 vs.9.4±3.9 kJ,19.4±3.9 vs.14.4±5.5kJ),resulting in a higher total energy cost(87.4±10.6 vs.71.4±11.4 kJ)(P<0.05),fast tempo will increase the proportion of glycolysis(17.7±4.8%vs.13.3±5.7%)(P<0.05),however,the fast and slow tempo did not affect the aerobic system relative energy contributions(22.3±4.2%vs.19.9±6.0%)(P>0.05);(3)Compare the different weights of the same tempo(4/2/1 70%1RM vs.4/2/1 35%1RM),high load will cause greater internal load than low load(peak heart rate 154.1±14.6 vs.119.5±10.8 bpm, peak blood lactate 7.0±1.2 vs.4.0±1.2 mM),RPE 12.4±1.3 vs.8.8±1.8)(P<0.05),high load consumed more total energy(99.9±13.4 vs.71.4±11.4 kJ)(P<0.05),high load will increase glycolysis relative energy contributions(56.4±11.0 vs.47.6±8.7 kJ)(P<0.05),however,the high and low load did not affect the aerobic system relative energy contributions(18.3±4.7 vs.14.4±5.5 kJ)(P>0.05).Conclusion:Under the same time under tension, the proportion of different movement phases(different ratios of eccentric-concentric)does not affect the internal load characteristics;the duration of the movement phase(fast tempo)has a higher internal Load stimulation than the long movement phase(slow tempo);high load-bearing at the same tempo has a higher internal load response than low load.It is recommended that in training practice, the same time under tension can be used to increase the fun and variability of training by changing the design of different eccentric-concentric ratios;you can use the fast tempo or high load to increase the energy contributions of the exercise and increase the glycolysis. And stimulation of the aerobic energy contributions system.
