There has been a lack of studies on the species of beetles in Hebei Province(including Beijing and Tianjin).By viewing the determined specimens of beetles which are collected in the Museum of Hebei University and collecting the data in relevant literature.The present work tries to explain the species diversity and biogeographical distribution pattern of beetles in Hebei1 Province.The preliminary results are shown as follows:1.Species compositionAccording to the classification of Coleoptera proposed by Bouchard et al.(2011),the catalogue of Hebei beetles was summarized.Totally,2064 species(subspecies)belonging to 864 genera,64 families,2 suborders were documented.726 species more than the past record.Hereinto,the Adephaga included 6 families(9.38%),81 genera(9.47%),and 275 species(13.32%);the Polyphaga included 58 families(90.62%),774 genera(90.53%),and 1789 species(86.68%).Data analyses show that the top 10 of family category are Chrysomelidae [270 species(13.08%)of 113 genera(13.08%)] > Staphylinidae [239 species(11.58%),88 genera(10.19%)] > Cerambycidae [230 species(11.14%),112 genera(12.96%)] > Carabidae [205 species(9.93%),56 genera(6.48%)] > Scarabaeidae [182 species(8.82%)of 62 genera(7.18%)] > Curculionidae [181 species(8.77%),91 genera(10.53%)] > Tenebrionidae [89 species(4.31%)of 43 genera(4.98%)] > Coccinellidae [82 species(3.97%)of 31 genera(3.59%)] > Attelabidae [67 species(3.25%),28 genera(3.24%)] > Buprestidae [54 species(2.62%),10 genera(1.16%)].In the generic level,there are 505 genera(58.45%)including single species,288 genera(33.33%)including 2-5 species,51 genera(5.90%)including 6-10 species,15 genera(1.74%)including 11-20 species,and 5 genera(0.58%)including more than 20 species.2.Fauna composition and distribution type1)Composition of Hebei beetles within Chinese fauna: 209 genera(12.62%)spread in North China Region,558 genera(64.58%)spread across North China Region and Central China Region,511 genera(59.11%)spread across North China Region and Northeast China Region.2)Composition of Hebei beetles within the world fauna: the fauna composition was mainly Palaearctic and Sino-Japanese(543 genera 62.85%),which prove the fact that Hebei is in the transition zone of Palaearctic and Sino-Japanese.3.Distribution patternComparing G-F index of five areas in Hebei in the case of Tenebrioniodea.F index in each area is significantly higher than G index(p<0.05).G-F index is highest in Hebei Plain Area(0.6177).The following are Bashang Plateau Area(0.5175),Northern Taihang Moutain Area(0.5093),Western Yanshan Moutain Area(0.3732)and Northwestern Basin Area(0.0901).There are following characters of distribution pattern of Hebei beetles: 1)the similarity coefficient among high elevation ares is high;2)the difference between high elevation and low elevation is noticeable;3)the difference between northern parts and southern parts is significant.
