With the growing demand for high-power lasers in the industrial processing sector,the share of semiconductor lasers in the laser market has increased further.In practical applications,the working state and service life of semiconductor lasers are directly affected by the laser diode driver,and quality of laser processing makes a new request to output current dynamic response of the laser diode driver.Therefore,research and development the laser diode driver of high-power,multi-mode and stable output has a very important practical significance.The power supply scheme of the two-stage cascade topology is determined according to the analysis of the volt-ampere characteristic of the laser diode and the specific requirements of the multi-mode operation.Half-bridge converter of non capacitor voltage division with current-doubler rectifier is used for rectification,isolation and step-down.The new-type forward buck converter of current source is adopted to realize fast dynamic response of output current.Analyzing the working principle of each mode occurs in the front and rear stage converters.Front stage topology can effectively solve the problem of high-current magnetic components manufacture.Energy conversion efficiency is high in the rear stage converter of which standby loss is relatively low.The dynamic small-signal characteristics are obtained basing on the mathematic model of two-stage converter.The simulation of the main circuit is carried out by simulation software Saber,which verifies the feasibility of the power supply scheme.The designing of hardware circuits and construction of the whole power supply system for the E15.4Y-940.3-960C-VH8.1 LD module produced in Germany are completed according to the theoretical analysis and simulation results.The output of the prototype is 18V/100 A.The experiment shows that the laser diode driver system has a good working performance.The output current ripple of the front stage converter is less than 0.02%.Rising time is 1.915?s and the falling time is 5.654?s of current response when rear stage converter outputs 100 A current.The power conversion efficiency of rear stage converter is up to 92.6% when the output is fully loaded.So the experimental results have reached the expected target.
