The change of landscape pattern results from the interaction betwen natural evolution and human activities.Studying the current situation, changes and development characteristics and driving forces of landscape pattern is conducive to the rational use of land resources, protection of the ecological environment and national food security. And it is also conductive to safeguard national food security and promote sustainable development.Longchuanjiang River is located in the Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, central Yunnan Province and is a primary tributary of the southern bank of the Jinsha River. As an important economic, cultural and political activity center in Chuxiong Prefecture,Longchuanjiang River plays an important role in various aspects such as agriculture, transportation, and water conservancy development. In recent decades, influenced by factors such as nature and humanities, its pattern has undergone significant changes, bringing with it a series of influences in terms of social production, people's life, and local economic development. This paper selects five remote sensing images of the Longchuanjiang River Basin in 1995,2000,2005,2010 and 2015 and analyzes the changes in land use and landscape patterns in the Longchuanjiang River Basin over the past 20 years, with the help of some relevant data, such as detailed land surveys and statistical yearbooks, and the RS(Remote Sensing)and GIS(Geographic Information System)platforms and FRAGSTATS software. Moreover, based on the SPSS statistical analysis, this paper systematically studies the driving forces that trigger landscape pattern changes,so as to provide scientific support for environmental protection, ecological governance and scientific planning in the region. The main findings and conclusions are below:1.For the dynamic change of land use.The result showed that the total area of forest land, cultivated land and unused land had a downward tendency, and that of the construction land and water body showed an upward trend, especially the growth of construction land was most obvious, and the total area of unused land was almost not changed.2.For the landscape pattern changes. The results showed that the area of woodland, cultivated land and grassland patches in the Longchuanjiang River Basin during the period of 20 years from 1995 to 2015 had a decreasing trend, while the area of construction land patches, with a maximum land use dynamic index, continued to increase. The area conversion between construction land, forest land and cultivated land was extremely close;Water body in this basin did not change significantly, owing to its particularity. The total degree of fragmentation of the Longchuanjiang River Basin had been increasing year by year, and the main landscape dominance had gradually decreased;Landscape diversity and evenness increased, and landscape types tended to develop in a balanced and stable manner.3.For the driving forces of the landscape. This research selected 33 impact factors that covered both natural and human factors as explanatory variables. This paper believes that human economic activities and government decisions and policies, such as “Natural Forest Conservation Project”,“Green for Grain Project”,“Comprehensive Renovation Project of the Yangtze River Basin”,“Ecological Rehabilitation Project of Soil and Water Conservation” and other policy orientations, are the main driving forces for changes in landscape patterns.
