With the development of the society and economy, people have increasely dependce on the exploitation of resources and utilization of space in the ocean.Due to the unique advantages, very large floating structures(VLFS)draw extensive attention in the field of international ocean engineering. This thesis is concerned with the forecasting methods of wave environmental conditions and the hydroelastic responses of VLFS in waves. It is significant for design and safety evaluation of VLFS that forcasting the wave environmental conditions accurately. With the continuous deepening of port construction and national defense construction,it has considerable significance that constructing VLFS near islands and reefs in recent years. However, the unique terrain and the complicated wave propagation increase the difficulty of design for VLFS.In this thesis,WAVEWATCH ? model is chosen for simulation of the wave evolution driven by the wind near islands and reefs in Western Pacific. We compares the results obtained from simulation with the measured buoy data by Ship Scientific Research Center, thus the feasibility of using the model to simulate the wave evolution near islands and reefs is validated.Furthermore,it provides the scientific simulation model and method of wave environmental conditions forcasting for VLFS.It is vital for structural design and safety evaluation that analyzing the responses of VLFS in waves accurately.Circular VLFS is a new type of offshore very large floating structure, which has advantages of stable structure, flexible upper layout, smaller waves in the center and so on.Up to now, there is scarcely study on the hydroelastic responses of circular VLFS.Based on FEM-BEM,this thesis will study the linear hydroelastic responses of circular VLFS in regular waves, thus providing a reference for the deeper study and design of circular VLFS.
