As a public welfare undertaking,hydrology serves mainly for economic construction and social development,and is an indispensable part of the national economic infrastructure construction.As a basic unit of hydrological work,hydrological station network is a dynamic development system.Therefore,the construction and management methods of hydrological station networks also need to be continuously adjusted and improved,so that the function of the entire station network can be fully realized.At present,the management of station networks in most provinces in China is relatively backward,the data exists in the form of paper,massive spatial data and attribute data can hardly be integrated and managed under the real geographical background to provide reliable support for the planning and construction of the station network.Geographic Information System(GIS),as a new borderline discipline,can realize the integrated management of massive spatial data and attribute data.As one of the “digital hydrology” solutions,3D GIS can express the spatial distribution of hydrological station network more intuitively and truly,and realize the integrated management of the hydrological station network map,text,sound and image information.Starting from the 3D visualization research of hydrological station network,this paper first introduces the development trend and theoretical foundation of 3D GIS and 3D visualization technology,based on the analysis of the problems and characteristics of hydrological stations,a three-dimensional visualization information platform for hydrological stations based on GIS is proposed.Furthermore,the key technologies such as the spatial data model,ArcSDE,3D scene construction and mass data organization and scheduling involved in platform development were deeply studied,the advantages and disadvantages of several spatial data models and 3D modeling methods were summarized and compared,and a 3D scene construction scheme based on ArcGIS and SketchUp was proposed.On the basis of understanding and grasping relevant theories and techniques,the concept of software engineering and system analysis and integration theory is used to carry out requirement analysis,system structure design,data model and structure design,and main functional modules design of the platform.Then,based on functional design and implementation principles,the 3D visualization information platform of hydrological station network is developed by using component GIS technology,and the functions of collection and input of network data,editing processing,browsing management,3D scene control,query statistics,spatial analysis,and data updating are realized.Finally,the system is applied to the 3D visualization management of Datong Shuozhou hydrological station network,and the main functions are displayed and applied.The design,development and application of the information platform have realized the integrated management of graphic and text of hydrological station network,enhanced the integration and visualization of hydrological station network data management,improved the management level and efficiency of station network,and provided an important platform support for the construction of "digital hydrology" and "intelligent hydrology".
